If anything should happen on that day it must be prayers only...

Yeah right caus on the financial and organizational level FPM has no means of making any organized event...so better pray in the church next to Rabyeh than showing the real "US"

After all the flip flops twistings and turnings and burnings of principles in the past few years, I really came to wonder if there ever was truthfulness and a cause all through the beginning.

But that never rules out that martyrs are martyrs and you ought to save 'em a prayer.

In general, a mass or a prayer is the best way to honor our martyrs, but the problem is that the lebanese have made it a festival and an occasion to show who can gather the biggest crowd... too bad we live in a country where a parti can not make a festival and big gathering unless it was in the name of his martyrs... I wish we can get to the day where a gathering of 1 million happens everyday to fix electricity, to defend a cultural city being ruined, or even naturalization...

bass yalla hayda lebnen...

Maggie, thanks for the great words.

On the 13th of October 1990, I was in Ke7eleh with my family. Our soldiers held the lines there for hours, the Syrian battalions were falling one after the other, everyone felt proud and glorious, until all hell broke loose and the whole village was intensely shelled by none other than the so called Lebanese forces resistance from Achrafieh(el bideyeh). The Syrians managed to infiltrate our lines afterwards as our soldiers were incapable of any movement.
I recall the famous Walid Jumblat advice to the Syrians afterwards: ما تفرقوا بين مدني و عسكري بالكحالة,هول كلن بقاتلوا

The 13th of October, a shameful day for all the collaborators, and a glorious one for all those who shed blood defending whatever dignity left in this damned country.

We fought Syria when Syria was an occuppation, if you wish to fight for overthrowing the Alawite regime and replacing it with a Wahhabi one go ahead, we wont pay the price for it.

i have something that i can never forget . our building was surrounded by syrian troops , and i can never forget one of them saying :هاي بناية مدشنة ، زنروها و نزلوها , and of course there were so many children and women in the lobby who started to shout and cry.

by the way , this was in hadath - baabda, and october 13th was the worst day i ever lived .

You're right there were no FPM:ers back then but those who fought Syria are found within FPM today.

And those who helped Syria back then, exist under the same name today!

well, how about the people who died on nahr il mout, or the students who were burned alive in their bus after being the target of by LF snipers in beirut..... the army officers executed in sarba, and the lebanese soldiers who died, specially those on oct 13, defending against the syrians while LF were bombarding the area!

would you like me to continue!? well I won't, because although we will never forget, we did forgive (this is what being christian is all about) and we want to move on...

Unfortunately, people like you insist on living in the gruesome past distorting it to create dreams of glory that never existed.

FYI:
The LF who gave those martyrs are not the same as sg LF! Those fought for a cause and died for it, sg LF were nothing but a bunch of thugs trying to force themselves on the people, taxing them for money and selling drugs - remember what the army found when they went into dbaye...
