I'm not sure why your saying this. this new party probably wont help Skaff, the main problem facing Zahleh is the change in the demographic, until they resolve this problem, skaff or any other opposition party is out of luck

Will he create a real party with a party structure and a political program? Or will it be another Lebanese-style party, a one-man-party that just goes with the flow with no national programs or ideology whatsoever...?

Marada Movement is smart enough to keep its movement exactly what it is: a movement.

There aren't many political parties in Lebanon. Most are simply gatherings of people around one politician with enough popularity to create the illusion of a party!

so he does'nt speak well arabic...because he lived most of his childhood in new zealand.

or is being educated, if you graduated from georgetown just by buying ur way out ...but actually spending your years getting hammered and high .....

Being present in one region doesn't make it impossible for you to have your own party.

The Marada are mainly present in Zghorta (I'm generous when I say mainly, because I don't see any marada candidate somewhere else in the next decade or so), does this make it a failed political party ?

Anywhere in the world there are local political parties.

Well this is an excellent strategy to secure a future job to Joe Jr the son of Elie, son of Joseph.....bayk skaf, who I was told is being brilliant among all his kindergarden classmates. This will also be a nice venue for the corrupt militiamen who support skaff, like nicolas zarzour and tony el frenn....Elie skaff might be a no personality/charisma type of person who did nothing for zahle all his life but who cares? all that matters is that he is the son of joseph skaff .

تحلّق الحلفاء حول النائب السابق إلياس سكاف في الذكرى الثامنة عشرة لوفاة والده جوزف سكاف. فالمناسبة التي أصبحت تقليداً سنوياً زحلياً، لم يرد لها سكاف الابن أن تقتصر على قداس ديني، بل أرادها محطة سياسية أطلق منها حزبه السياسي، مخالفاً بذلك كل تقليد عائلته السياسي الرافض من الجد إلى الأب، تأطير التعاطف الشعبي وتنظيمه في مؤسسة حزبية أو تيار منظّم له مبادئه وبرنامجه. إطلاق سكاف ورشة بدء تأسيس حزبه، يلقى دعماً غير محدود من حلفائه أو من فريق ما يسمى الثامن من آذار. فمشاركة النائب ميشال عون على رأس وفد نيابي وجمهور حزبه الزحلي والبقاعي، وإرسال الأمين العام لحزب الله حسن نصر الله ممثلاً شخصياً له (غالب أبو زينب) على رأس وفد كبير من كتلة الوفاء للمقاومة، إضافة إلى قادة أحزاب وشخصيات سياسية معارضة، كانت أبلغ رسالة دعم لخطوة سكاف في تأسيس حزبه، وتعبيراً واضحاً عن أهمية التعاون والتنسيق للملمة آثار خسارة الانتخابات النيابية، وعدم إلقاء المسؤولية على طرف دون آخر، والتحضير لمعارك انتخابية وسياسية مقبلة، وترسيخاً لتحالف متين مستمر منذ سنوات أربع. ويقول النائب إبراهيم كنعان إن زيارة العماد عون إلى زحلة ومشاركته في قداس الراحل جوزف سكاف «لها رمزيتها ومعانيها السياسية» و«هي زيارة دعم وتأييد وتضامن مع حليف أساسي هو إلياس سكاف».
«مأسسة» عمل الكتلة الشعبية في مدينة زحلة، لا تخالف توجهات ومبادئ مؤسسها سنة 1951 النائب الراحل جوزف سكاف وفق تعبير رئيسها الحالي إلياس سكاف. ويقول سكاف إن «نظرتنا لبناء لبنان لا تختلف عن نظرة مؤسس الكتلة، وكل ما سنفعله هو بدء تنظيم تيار الكتلة التي تمثل إرادة الدفاع عن لبنان. وتابع سكاف: «القيم التي كانت توحّدنا انفرطت، والمؤامرات تحاك ضدنا (...) ونحن اليوم سنعمل على تنظيم الكتلة الشعبية، ولكل مؤمن بوطنه وبلده وبالمبادئ التي نمثلها له مكان معنا».
تيار الكتلة الشعبية الذي يطمح سكاف إلى أن ينتشر في كل لبنان، ستكون أولى خطواته التنظيمية في مدينة زحلة قبل الخروج نحو الجوار الذي أصبح بعيداً نسبياً عن مشروع سكاف السياسي أو عن تحالفاته. فالتنظيم الحزبي الجديد ستكون أولى مهماته الانتخابات البلدية والاختيارية المقبلة في مدينة زحلة حصراً. ويقول أحد متابعي شأن «مأسسة» تيار الكتلة الشعبية إن «هدفنا الأساس مدينة زحلة. فنحن نعمل بكل جد ونشاط لتنظيم عملنا قبل الانتخابات البلدية. فنتائج الانتخابات النيابية كانت مؤلمة وقاسية جداً، وبدء تنظيم الكتلة الشعبية ليس سوى تأكيد بأن نتائج هذه الانتخابات لن تتكرر في أي انتخابات أخرى، ولكن طموحنا يبقى أكبر من المشاركة في انتخابات موسمية. فنحن سنكون تياراً سياسياً وشعبياً مشاركاً وفاعلاً في الحياة السياسية الوطنية».
مبادئ الكتلة الشعبية، التي لا تختلف عن مشاريع الكثير من الأحزاب والتيارات والتنظيمات اللبنانية، أذاعها «الأمين العام» غير المعلن رسمياً لتيار الكتلة الدكتور هيكل الراعي الذي له تجربة طويلة في العمل السياسي والأكاديمي. ويقول الراعي إن الكتلة «تؤمن بلبنان دولة سيدة حرة مستقلة ووطناً نهائياً لجميع أبنائه، وتنادي بالعيش المشترك وبالديموقراطية التوافقية لمنع التفرد والاستئثار بالسلطة، ونتمسك بالدستور نصاً وروحاً، ونعتبر اتفاق الطائف تسوية تحتاج إلى تطوير وتعديل، ونسعى إلى بناء الدولة المدنية ـــــ دولة المواطنين، وإلى فصل الدين عن الدولة، ونرفض العنف بكل أشكاله، ونحذّر من مخاطر الانجرار وراء الطائفية والمذهبية، ونسعى إلى بناء المواطن الواعي والقادر على تغليب العقل والمنطق على كل التصرفات الغرائزية، وندعو إلى حوار ديموقراطي بين كل مكونات النسيج الاجتماعي الوطني ترسيخاً للسلم الأهلي، وواعون إلى أخطار الاعتداءات والمشاريع الإسرائيلية وإلى ضرورة التصدي لها ومقاومتها، ونطالب بتسليح الجيش اللبناني ودعمه ليدافع عن الكرامة الوطنية، ونؤمن بأن لبنان جزء من العالم العربي يختزن آلامه وآماله وأن العلاقة بين لبنان وسوريا المحكومة
بالجغرافية والتاريخ وبعلاقة القربى يجب أن تقوم على أسس صلبة متميزة ومتوازنة. ونرفض كل أشكال التوطين ونؤمن بحق الفلسطينين في دولتهم المستقلة وبحق العودة إلى ديارهم، وندعو إلى محاربة الفساد وإلى بناء إدارة حديثة وإلى تفعيل أجهزة الرقابة والمساءلة والمحاسبة، ونطالب بقانون جديد للانتخابات يقوم على العدالة والمساواة ويمنع التلاعب بالعملية الديموقراطية. ونتمسك بالحريات العامة التي تميّز لبنان عن كل دول المنطقة، ونطالب بتعزيز القضاء ودعمه وإصلاحه وإبعاده عن التدخلات السياسية، ونتمسك بلبنان الوطن الرسالة وبالعيش المشترك المسيحي ـــــ الإسلامي، ونرفض الكيانات الطائفية وكل أشكال التقسيم والفدرالية، وندعو إلى حالة طوارئ اقتصادية لمعالجة معضلة الدين العام وأوضاع صناديق الهدر، ونطالب بحماية القطاعات الزراعية والصناعية والخدماتية ودعمها، وبإصلاح النظام الضريبي. كما أننا نشدد على تحصين الأمن الاجتماعي وبناء العدالة الاجتماعية وتشجيع الاستثمار لتأمين فرص عمل للشباب وللمتخرّجين الجدد، وندعو إلى تطوير المناهج التربوية وإلى دعم المدرسة الرسمية والجامعة اللبنانية ونطالب بحماية البيئة ووقف تدمير ثرواتنا الطبيعية حفاظاً على مستقبل أجيالنا، وإشراك المرأة بفعالية في الحياة السياسية والاقتصادية والوطنية. ونرى أن الاغتراب اللبناني ثروة يجب المحافظة عليها والاستفادة من طاقاتها. ونطالب بالإنماء المتوازن ووضع خطة شاملة لإنماء زحلة والبقاع على كل المستويات».

and in all those years of uselessness he didnt quite manage to destroy zahle quite as fast as the zbeleh of 14 azar did just after winning the elections..

this new party has nothing to do with his son who is rumored to be mentally challenged, it's a facelift for the 2013 elections

skaff is a simple man, good man but not charismatic it goes without saying

at any rate, putting aside his lackluster previous performance i am convinced he is still the only one now who can safeguard zahle from the political instability brought forth by the ouwet and harriri victory

this new party of his i think in my opinion is just a facelift for the next elections

i hope by then skaff's standing in zahle will be strong enough again to mute those shtty partisan voices that recently sprawled there

i hope also that mainly by the next elections skaff's performance will also significatly improve to reflect all good historical aspects of a good and proud and stable zahle. no more pity last minute votes for skaff like what tended to happen previously. he must be firm and efficient and the support will trickle by itself towards him.

i hate to say it, but it's kinda up to skaff, if he doesnt restore zahle by 2013 to its historical context as a none-crazy city then zahle will become just like the rest of the stupid cities around it

zahle survived too long to fall now, but that's up to fate to decide

the ppl will choose and will live with their choices

the loss of 2009 needs not to be permanent, on the contrary it could be turned into a clear victory in 2013
