Default Michel Sleiman, What's your Political Program and Vision? - 20th May 2008

Hi all,

So far Michel Sleiman will be new president,
it is so bad in our country a president get elected without even a clear program, no clear political vision.
Anyone have any idea what's his program? what's his vision? how is he going to rule?

I think he will be the weakest president ever, he will always fall in the consensual trap, if the loyalists commit a mistake, he wont judge them or take any action against them because "I am a consensual president, and I keep the same distance from everyone", and if the opposition commits a mistake he will say the same.

so khabbtou ba3dkon, el mouhem ana koun ra2is.
I dont think he will ever be able to take a courage decision.

"istaqbal wa wadda3" is his program
and his vision is actually oriented toward a shiny chair
why do you think they chose him?

1) no need for a program cause the President has no authority, to start with! He might have plans to throw honorary parties and ceremonies, but this can come later

2) his political vision is already settled, he is a CONSENSUS President. They all agreed on his name, and he has to make sure he doesn't upset anyone... it is an easy job

enno before asking those difficult questions about programs and visions etc.... We should ask ourselves first : was he a candidate ? No
It was like " faja2nakom moo " .... I like it in Lebanon, any maronite can be choosen as president without even knowing or being prepared to !

cool

His political program can be summarized in one statement: ضربه عالحافر ضربه عالمسمار

I think making everyone happy in Lebanon is the hard job my friend,
when a misunderstanding will happen between the Loyalists and the Opposition, he will just fall down.
he will be another Elias Sarkis.

In all my reading all over Lebanon and in all news ...... I never really found anyone who wanted Suleiman for President. Very odd thing. He became the "consensus" in some way (I will keep my thoughts to myself on this) and ended up with the "job".

What a very strange country that everyone is willing to accept this when it goes against everything that it is in your Constitution. 6 years he will sit in that chair. I think it is likely that all of Lebanon will regret it ..... I guess you are used to that as you almost always "regret" your Presidents. If this is a sample of how they are chosen - I'm not surprised they are usually not very good.

Same as Lahoud, no program, just a fill the seat.

He's being advertised as the solution to all the problems facing this country, soon enough everyone will realize that the problem is much bigger than a new president,it's in the system and the system is still here and still messing up any possible action of real politics in lebanon.
GMS is great as an army leader but i doubt he's gonna make revolutionary changes cause the process that made him a president has flaws and to make any change it means he has to flip on the people that made him the president,so dont expect much from him more than "wadi3 w isti2bil" in b3abda.
