Yes there was a movement, there was international pressure building, 1559, small rallies here and there, etc.. But March 14, 2005 was the final boot that kicked the Syrians out. Do not deny history just because the future did not turn the way you expected.
And if you really believe that day had nothing to do with the Syrian withdrawal how come they didn't leave sooner?
While I agree that March 14 was a great day, I disagree with the fact that it was that movement that made the Syrian decide they'll leave. Here's something you can read on wikipedia:
So the Syrians decided they'll leave before the actual demonstration. And yes it was due to foreign pressure, not a nationalistic movement. Had it not been for foreign interference, the Syrians would still be here...
Of course, let us measure this "international pressure" and take it as it is: Syrian Accountability act is foremost written in the context of the Iraq war. We thank the West for putting pressure on Syria, but we don't need more interference!

As i said, there was life on Planet Earth before 2005, i advice you to watch this videos:
On March 8, I went down and hailed "ila el lika' Souriya". Ah no wait I hailed that on March 14. Anyways, on March 8, I went down to thank Syria , then I went down on march 14 to curse Syria, of course I was wearing the same jacket, all I did is turn it inside out.
But to say the truth, I only felt myself alive was on the 14 feb, 2005, that's when my and everybody's lives started, and since I am not a believer in jesus and all, for me, the calendar does not starts 1 AD, the first day of humanity for me is 14 feb 2005. So now we are all 4 year old, mbossto, people pay thousands to remain young.
