Of course, in 2002 Gabriel won with everybody aligned against Michel's daughter. The difference was slim.
The use of curtain had a law in it. it was optional back then. that is true.
But, the use of MTV to show wierd and incorrect scene is not acceptable. I lived that. I went to election that day without knowing who to select. There, i saw MTV reporters and what they are doing to show the bad version of Michel. Most of it was in front of me and not true at all.
Despite all of that, the difference was very slim. His weight is 42000 voters in el-Metn. Not all went down for the vote that day. ( last time decision and not prepared well for it...while the other partieS well very prepared).
Also, there was the issue of his daughter being head of municipality.. which wrose many questions of whether they will let her take the seat or not. So, many of his supporters didn't go down for that reason as well.
I think him alone represents a big mass of people almost equal to: FPM,LF,kataib and Lahoud in El-Metn... isn't taht enough for him to represent... | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

The people that he employed or the people that he threatened of terminating if they did not vote for him? The people who got deals off him or those that could not pass a project without his blessing? | | | | | Registered Member

I am from maten and murr does not represent anyone, even the armenians, they were forced to elect him and its very well known. If it was up to me this guy should be completely removed from lebanese politics, he is like a chameleon he changes colors. | | | | | Registered Member

Let me tell you that you are talking exactly what MTV was trying to prove.
I saw it in front of me, they all elected Gabriel that day. I was there.
I am from El-Metn too, and not only that, I have all numbers in front of me.
So, do not spread speculations like corrupted MTV did .
They were to Michel the same like LBC nowadays towards GMA. | | | | | Registered Member

Hey guys,
As an orthodox myself, without having any names to choose from, I will tend to choose an orthodox that got a majority of Christian votes in general and orthodox votes in particular. Saying that, regardless if I like the person or not, the only orthodox MP that got the most orthodox votes is Michel Murr. SO IF ELECTIONS MEANS ANYTHING FOR YOU, then Michel Murr should represent the orthodox in this meeting.
I would like to ask all those people that are always arguing about the next candidate for the presidency, or the person that should be selected to represent the orthodox community, and when that they present their own selection candidates like Boutros Harb, Nassib Lahoud, Neila Mo3awad, … WHAT DOES ELECTIONS MEAN TO THESE PEOPLE !!!!
DOES VOTES MEAN ANYTHING TO THEM?
Because every time there is a situation where we need a candidate that represent a certain community, they never accept the result of the elections and they always have excuses to name someone from their allies.
I find that this mentality is really annoying. I wonder how long the Lebanese population will tolerate such behavior!! | | | | | Registered Member

Just another thing, for all those giving exuses about Michel Murr not representing the metn: In 2005 it was free elections and no one was forced to vote for a certain candidate. You guys have to respect the results, respect the peoples choice and move on ... unless you want to emplement some kind of dictatorship!!
Here is a simple question: if you need to select a person that will represent the maronites in Lebanon (please exclude the presidency issue) who will you select and please indicate the reasoning behind your answer (only one person) | | | | | Registered Member

My friend the only reason why Murr even smelled the elections is because of aoun, otherwise he would be sitting home now. that doesnt mean he represents anyone. | | | | | | |
