one thing havana that i would like to ponder about is the following.
if ever X invader attacks lebanon in the future, be it syria or israel or invader nb Z, what would the fab feb alliance ppl do about it?
let me explain further..
let us suppose that they and their ppl will actually oppose such an invasion instead of presenting their usual welcoming committees.
and let's suppose that invader X is syria for a moment to make things easier for them since they attack it daily like great greek heroes of myth.
now, will the sunnis of the north that support harriri fight the invading syrian troops for the sake of lebanon or for the sake of a northern islamic emirate ??
and, will the druze of the mountain that support jumblat, will they fight the syrian army for the freedom of lebanon or for the freedom of their own little fiefdom ?
last but not least, will the christians of the kataeb and the LF fight the syrian troops (supposing they delay shooting at each other for a bit) for securing the future of lebanon or for securing their future as xenophobic fascist feudal parties ?
that's the question.
gma and the army of lebanon fought the syrians for the sake of all of lebanon even if all of lebanon was not supporting them.
hizbulah and the ppl of the south also fought the israelis for the sake of all of lebanon even if not all of lebanon was supporting them.
for in the end, an occupied north is a problem for the south and an occupied south is a problem for the north. but some ppl really don't give a rat’s tail about anything more than their own very limited wellbeing that has nothing to do with a greater "lebanese" sense of patriotism.
saying 'i love lebanon' is cheap and lightweight consumer gum, living 'i love lebanon' requires expensive sacrifice that gives way to a sense of national esteem and pride.
we cannot put the sad and difficult past behind us if some ppl want to build our own future using the same mistakes of that past.
the solution of the hizb’s arms starts with strengthening the state, let’s go do that ppl b4 we take the risk of being liars ourselves who want nothing but weakening the hizb with no intention of strengthening the state.
the weapons of the hizb are not an impediment to making the state stronger, on the contrary they are symbiotic organized weapons that did no harm.
on the other hand, the chaotic anarchist weapons in the hands of the fab feb milias nearly cost us another civil war. we clearly saw how much armed the other ‘innocent’ lebanese factions are.
