i'm living sectarian country, not sectarian federalism. it is not the same, don't try to mystify things.
their is only one government, one president, one parliament, on administration ... and it is with them that you are dealing and forced to deal for anything and everything in your daily life, whether you like it or not.

Now think about it, The federal PM of this country of yours, what sect he will have? He will be Sunni? Shi3a? Christian? etc etc???

What about the president?
What about the ministers?

The country you're talking about will have exactly the same problems Lebanon has now, adding to it more and more complications...

It will solve nothing...

Thank you!!
lebanese communites need a certain level of authonomy from each other - federalism can solve it but it's not magic - it's the best solution for a country like lebanon
the cake that everybody is fighting for (the current goverment) would be reduced therefore less problems

Saudi Arabia only beat me to the idea of a federal system based on isolating slaves :)

This is the problem with you federalists, you throw fancy words around but never back them with theories... Again I ask you who you are going to give the prime minister functions to? Shia, Sunni, or Maronites? Yalla i'm waiting

i'll give you an example:
shiia living in the heart of the christians area that you want to see as a independent entity. who can move them out of their houses?
they gonna stay and they will become numerically superior in few years... then what?
anyways, i will be happy as long as fascists in this country are concentrated on projects like "federalism" or "independent christian canton"... let them concentrate their harm and effort on things that will never happen.
great ! you are talking about demography
this is one of the continuous fear that the christian community lives - and it seems that some of you enjoy it
you admit that chi3a or sunni will outnumber at some point and therefore rule at the end - they will rule over a much smaller marginalised christian community that will be forced to leave because its own lebanon would be gone forever ... i bet this is what some of you are looking for !!!
if the current constitutions is modified you will witness an unprecedented wave of christian leaving this country and i'll be the first one
i will burn my passeport
CHEERS

CHEERS

and the magic, well studied, very secure solution that you propose is federalism?
i'm already familiar with this problem... i saw its drawbacks in the election in zahleh.... but it is the stupid proposed solution that i'm arguing about.
this thread is not about changing the constitutions, whatever that means... but if you want to burn your passport just do it, no one cares.
