No they dont have to be relocated, each will vote for the MPs of their sect and only for the MPs of their sects. To use an example that FPMers highlight a lot, in Zahle the Sunni would vote only for the Sunni MP, Shiites, Maronites, Catholics etc... also each will vote for their own MPs and no one else.

i have been reading this thread since ages and i am sorry to tell you that i don't see any advantages in the federal state.
reforms should be made to our constitution to ensure democracy and secularist rule to future generations.
Then how about these interim steps instead?

1. Make the presidency completely a ceremonial position
2. Rotate the positions of President, PM, and Speaker amongst the three largest sects
3. Give the three major sects equal numbers of seats in parliament, with some seats reserved to larger minorities and a couple of seats rotated amongst all much smaller minorities
4. Revise electoral laws so that each sect votes exclusively for his parliament members, no matter the districting

Lebanon as we know it (a set of intermingled communities) cannot survive in the long run when you have a certain sect/community that is imposing its de-facto military rule on the other freedom-loving communities of the country...

1.even less power
2.silly thinking
3.we have the half why should we give it up for a one third
4.we want to build a secular country not a mini KSA,a mini Iran or a mini Israel

conclusion: none of my questions were answered and what is proposed is much less than what we already have; typical geageaoit thinking, complete lack of future vision.

Hezbollah's weapons must once again become a matter of principle, otherwise we're going towards de facto federalism.

We have always had one form or another of de facto sectarian federalism. Hezbollah's weapons exacerbate many issues the governance system already suffers form.

That said I do appreciate the incredibly concise humor in your post, it wasn't lost on me as I am sure it wont be lost on many here :)

Robin, try to look under the Hood, deeper into things. No matter what you and others may post, it is clear as day that I am not motivated by sectarian feelings or hate. I am probably one of the most secular people in this forum (with all due respect to all the FPMers here.)

Federalism aside (read my post on the basket of interim reforms), you would be hard pressed to find many FPMers here that would agree to sharing in an equitable fashion the MP positions in the country with the Muslim community. For an example read PFC's post above.
