I said "No need for a public park when you can have your own private sanctuary"; meaning your private garden is much better than a public park. That's a personal preference.

The need for public park is essential in cities, if it hadn't been of AUB there would not be any green left. Cities designate areas and call them public parks so that not everything becomes concrete, unfortunately there is nothing as such in Lebanon. Bled el kissarat.
Very essential especially for people who live there. I don't expect to see public parks in a country where the beach is privatized. However, i do expect some improvement on public transport, and I could live somewhere close to the city but not in the city where I could have my own garden to relax in. A public park is the last thing on the worry list.

You shouldn't be suprised of this low-ranking, Lebanon is a joke. There is no electricity, public transportation is inadequate, there is no water (in areas like Chiye7), ect.

Accusation of corruption are everywhere they are actually not counted in the quality of living if they don't affect it directly.
which one is it, are we rich or middle class?
this does not mean that the report is accurate anyway,
and that is what I am getting at. Like someone else said it last month beirut was the number one destination in the world, and yesterday beirut is number 20 in the middle east. Dear Danny something is not adding up.

Tourism and quality of life have nothing to do with each other.

China is the fourth biggest tourism destination, but tourism and quality of life have no correlation whatsoever! The same could be said about Mexico, Russia, Poland and Thailand, all in the top 20. But little Thai boys getting used for 1$/day doesn't sound like a fun life if you ask me!

There's a single positive side to dictatorships in the Arab world and especially the Emirats: since people are rarely allowed to talk about politics, unless it's to praise their king or prince, they'r not given a reason to fight vainly and therefore they get busy making their quality of life better!!! (regardless of the Oil which gives them countless riches)
Yeah you can't opress freedom of expression like in emirates!
this wont work in lebanon, bi damna el siyesi, the point is not talking siyesi its propaganda fabrication and lies.

I have been to many countries and every country has pros and cons.
Our country has lots of potential but we are using none! and it takes years and chain reaction to ignite , and you need a "Starter" for that , and every time there is a hope for a "Starter" person, they oppose it and try to derail it.

Damascus is much cleaner then beirut and the traffic is very well organised. i wish we can have that kind of a working traffic system in lebanon.

SHORTLY, If Lebanon wants to have a good quality of life it should have:

1) 24/7 electricity
2) Public Parks
3) Public Transportation
4) New Traffic system
5) A new Green system
6) Organized govermental ministries with client care call centers
7) New Medical system
8) New Mailing and address system

This is just the basic beginning...

Thank you!!

Why are we looking for excuses or for a scapegoat ? If the lebanese were a little bit less invidualists and a little bit more civic (like, respecting the pedestrians, not throwing garbage all over the streets etc.), no matter many other things, Beirut and Lebanon in general would be heaven on earth.
