I changed the order of your sentences so i can tell you it's hard to keep up momentum when it's you you're following (you here is a general pronoun).
To do counter bashing you have to have interest for one side and loathing for the other and I can't muster that even with refined pessimism as tout ca m'est bien egale. ( oh God I hope I dont get bashed now fro using the only three french words I know).

As for helping set up the stage, I am afraid I have seen the same play being repeated from the time it was shown on Broadway until it moved to the slums. Same play, different characters, same outcome.
