According to the paper, French intelligence officers charged with monitoring Aoun’s movements advised him to avoid meeting with agents of a country Lebanon was still officially at war with.

“However, the Christian General refused to listen to these warnings. At the time, Michel Aoun was one of the primary opponents of the Syrian military presence in Lebanon. As for now, the general has changed his mind and positioned himself, since his return in 2005, within the group that includes Hezbollah and has found it necessary to establish good relations with Damascus,” the newspaper reported, adding that news of Aoun’s contacts with Mossad would not be appreciated by his Syrian friends.

Was it to enhance his position with the Americans during his exile in France?

I guess the article is more or less credible. We all remember that the majority of the parties in Lebanon, including HA, used to say that Aoun met the Mossad or called the Knesset or had relations with Israel. In general, HA have reliable news and they do not lie, so I believe there was a contact between Aoun and Israel before 2005, as per Le Figaro and HA as well as the other political parties in Lebanon back then. There is no smoke without fire.

I googled the name, and seems to be some controversy as to who he is. Do some digging, and share with us what you find.

As for the video, I think it's real.
