the chopper's incident was a major set back to FPM, HA needs to make amends to remedy the shaken public opinion within the Christian street in specific.
at the end of the day; it will all come down to the following:
there are two ways to disarm HA, either by force or peacefully. disarming HA by force will lead to a bloodshed the likes of which our country has never seen; the americans will not be sending their own soldiers to fight this war, it blood that will flow will be that of our own sons and daughters.
FPM should market the peaceful alternative, with the following major headlines:
1- turning the resistance from an islamic (HA) one, to a Lebanese one
2- refusing to disband the resistance through internal dialogue, and preserving the weapons & the missiles until the time comes for the peace negotiations with israel, where they can be used as a leverage against the nationalization or possibly the public debt. |
DA,
I agree with your proposal. But…
FPM is dealing with a residual issue.
FPM did not help create HA
FPM did not arm HA
FPM did not nurture HA
FPM did not support HA for 18 years via biyan wizari
FPM did not ally with HA in 2005
FPM did not draw electoral division in 2005 to help HA elect majority of Shiaas MPs
Till recently, FPM and HA were political opponents.
HA does not need FPM to survive
HA does not FPM to protect its weapons
....havind said so...
All what FPM did is commit HA to some type of road map for disarmament. HA might be “lying” in their commitment to FPM, but at least FPM is the only party in the world that was able to commit HA to some type of road map. FPM opened up to a major Lebanese group (the shiaas).
If the “Christians” want to penalize FPM then fine…If Christians want to adopt geagea policies in dealing with the issue then fine….personally, I care less if Christians did. Although, I have to say “Christians” tested geagea “leadership” in North, Shouf, South lebanon and east Beirut…The Christian were not impressed in geagea position….I believe Christians are strongly committed to FPM position.
The “sunni” fever to disarm HA is not derived from Lebanese patriotism…this is a sectarian fever derived from fighting in Iraq between Sunnis and shiias…KSA is feeding that fever via Hariri royal family in lebanon
The nationalist sunnis are asking for a dialogue with HA
The Druzes are for a dialogue to disarm HA
I don't understand the "guilt" “feelings” with FPMers when HA “sneezes”?
BTW, I am not FPMer. I vote for Sleiman Franjieh
