Default jounblatt & Co. in the meeting - 6th March 2006

something that caught my attention while reading assafir...

march 6, 2006: front page
http://www.assafir.com/iso/today/front/118.html

in albalad, march 6, there is an interview with elias atallah:

jounblatt leaves for the US and sends ghazi aridi with a mission.. try to ruin the whole meeting..

meanwhile, jounblatt's allies declare that the meeting is useless..

do they have preformed ideas or what?

It's rather called the revenge of the epsilons. Any entity benefiting from a system will fight any proposed change to the system that MIGHT marginalize or eliminate it. Typical survival strategy.

Seeing this kind of behavior from Joumblat was not unexpected. After all, he currently has 15 MPs in his side pocket. How much MPs would he still have if he wasn't able to horde with a powerful ally against another powerful foe in order to tip the balance for his favor? So everyone was expecting this type of aggression from Joumblat's behalf.

The really surprising matter to me is the remarkably good behavior of Geagea. I was expecting more trouble from this guy, but it seems that he's willing to reason at his own terms. Let's hope that he keeps it up.

source tayyar.org

this a question to GMA yesterday. His answer applies to those in the meeting and those ( as BM call them , the epsilons )who are not in the meeting.

Exactly! This is the only reason Jumblat is given this importance, because when major players are in disagreement, they immediately look to please the next biggest player.. Appropriately, this has always been Jumblatt.
And our history, even the very recent one, shows us both HA & FM tried at various points to satisfy Jumblat and sway him to their side.

Once they are in agreement, the need to satisfy or even acknowledge Jumblatt will cease to be. That, in itself, is wrong by all means. But that's what Jumblatt's afraid of.. now unfortunately for him, he deserves it, and even worse, everyone knows it.

WoW what a great response...i am really amazed.
As General Aoun lately said :"why they always say that HA did bring us as FPMers to the Tahran-Demascus axis...why they don't say that FPM did bring HA back to Lebanon?"

What a great patriot Joumblat has turned out to be. The first ever conference of its kind in Lebanon starts, and he leaves the country? Couldn't he have postponed his meetings by a week? I am sure the Americans would not have minded waiting an extra week to see him, I mean, it's not like he is the Premier of China or someone of any kind of importance in world affairs. I mean come on, the guy is acting like if he didn't leave to America when he did, the world as we know it would have came to an end!!

How funny, one minute he bashes the Americans, the next he wants to meet with Condi Rice. Welcome to flip floper's Heaven, ruled by the ArchAngel WJ!

Actually there was a change of dates for his meetings in US, he was supposed to leave at the end of this week, but he left earlier and that was last week. Was it to escape the national dialogue, or an urge to flee before he is faced with his actions???
