Epic Failure?
That's a funny title.
If FPM was after a popularity contest, it wouldn't ally with HA and move against the instinct of christians . It is doing so JUST because this is the real valid path for this community. You can argue about this endlessly and it is a hopeless case to even respond to you.
I would rather prefer sit and watch history unfold and then we will see .
In the mean time, Geagea and Gemayel can't play that tole my friend . They were not even able to win one MP in Jbeil, Kesrwan and Baabda and Samy barely made it in Metn (PLEASE don't go into scrutinizing the numbers ).
As for the "epic loss", FPM started from ZERO and was just about 2200 votes difference against all odds (Moutran Audi, Sfeir, son and daughter of martyrs,....) so this was indeed an "epic battle" which will surely be worth on building in the next years.

Makari wants 'realistic' approach to Hizbullah arms

Daily Star staff
Wednesday, July 01, 2009

BEIRUT: Deputy Parliament Speaker Farid Makari said on Tuesday that Hizbullah's weapons arsenal should be tackled "in a realistic manner." "No group is telling the Resistance that it has to disarm, and everybody knows that there have not been any incidents in South Lebanon since UN Security Council Resolution 1701 was issued," he claimed. Makari added that he had no information on whether Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri had offered Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah any local, regional or international assurances regarding the Resistance's arms. The deputy speaker said that "logically, the disarmament of the Resistance is impossible, but we should at least know what the future of these arms is."

Well before the elections, most independents understood Jumblat's flipfloping and expected as much. Most independents understood that Hezbollah is the de facto military ruler of Lebanon and will not be disarmed by force. Most independents knew very well that Berri will be the speaker. Most independents understood that Hariri won't be the savior, and LF isn't mother Mary. Most didn't expect radical change in the Hezbollah arms situation. And most independents still voted against your blatant support and defense of everything Hezbollah does, your justifications and defense of their weapons and internal incursions, and your political and policy alignment with Iran and Syria. Had the opposition won, Hezbollah would have been entirely at the helm. The Syrian Iranian policy would have been entirely uncontested. And it was clear to the voter that you had already agreed to that.

The loyalists aren't a savory bunch, but they were the only available alternative to the voter. How they move forward on the issue of Hezbollah's weapons and control of the country, however weak it may be, it will always remain a notch lower than the complete capitulation that FPM exhibited. One has to remember that Hezbollah practically rules Lebanon already militarily, and that the government in all its functions is and will be under duress. My preference remains as it always had been the political isolation of Hezbollah, and not necessarily taking reckless military action against Hezbollah as you like to claim. I never expected Saad Hariri to do that and he is not, but what was the alternative? voting for Hezbollah!!? Believe me I will be criticizing the new government's approach to Hezbollah's weapons, but that doesn't mean that one should regret the results of the elections, for a win by the opposition would have been significantly worse on this particular issue, and it would have put Hezbollah and its regional sponsors politicaly at the helm, more than they already are by the power of their gun.

I think that if Lebanon plans to maintain the sectarian power sharing system, then the system must be really sectarian. That is lumping the Druze, Shia and Sunnis under the category of Muslims is a joke. In Lebanon there are Sunnis, Shia and Druze, not Muslims. The same applies to the Christians.

Then seats should be equally distrubuted between Shia, Sunni and Maronites, and then other sects including the Druz, must be proportionatly distributed.

That is Maronite 27 seats
Shia 27 Seats
Sunni 27 seats.

then other sects will get seats as minorities. This way a minority leader like Jumblat representing the Druze does not decide power in Lebanon.

i think that jumbi is acting the way he does cause he's feeling that KSA is preparing for PM sa3doun a great role with syria, letting go about jumbi , which means jumbi might be out of the pic. that leads jumbi to a great U turn towards the opposition , especially toward HA passing by AMAL and the housespeaker.

welcome back.

what i fail to understand is that everybody in lebanon have stacked their chances with a party except fan still wanting to please all.

it wont work, it never worked.
in lebanon one must be in a camp or at least be close to one to be relevant.
such statements wont endear him to anyone.
my honest/respectful opinion. ( hope you convey it).

thx.

what you fail to understand is that there is a camp agreeing and defending Taef agreement and there is a camp who rejects it and wants a new political formula.

Fouad Abou Nader is in the second camp.

if with such words, you still think that Fouad wants to please all, you should ask yourself if you understand politics or not.

my honest/respectful opinion. ( hope you convey it).

thx.

Thank You Mr Patriarch for pushing the Chrstian to the ravine, Thank you for bringing down a fellow Christian (GMA) and enabling Walid Jumblatt to become the power maker

Thank you to all the the Christian Leaders in March 14 for their true vision that is also driving the Christian to the ravine and thank you for bringing down a fellow Christian leader (GMA) and helping Walid Jumblatt to become the power maker

God bless you and bless the one that voted for you.
