A year ago i was reading about how the Israelis recruit Palestinian informants, it is a surprise that many would give info for 50 or 100 US$, the problem that average people will never be as smart as an intelligence apparatus, those people start working hoping that one day they would become the big one and they are let to believe it, and no matter what info they gave it is never enough for their employres , at the end they become slaves , blackmailed if they stop cooperating so their identity would be revealed.
Many of those they are not considered spies, they are just informants, indeed in most of the cases they don't know what they are working on, or the reason behind it, they just do some specific job.
In the other hand, there are those big fish, some, just do one big job, other keep working for long time cuz their position allow them to always have new accurate info , those are who get paid well, cuz mostly they are educated and form part of the internal organization.
For example , many of us remember a Hamas leader called 3AYAH(alias the engineer) who was considered to be the father of suicide bomb in GAZA, the Mossad recruited his uncle(mother's brother) who gave him a cel phone as a gift, but it was bomb phone, this guy was paid a 100,000us$ and a green card to the USA, but not even 2 years later the man killed himself with one bullet on the top of the empire state building in New York, it was like in mid 90's.
I hope one day we get the big ones in leb, not that i am not happy for what is happining right now but is not enough.
