Currently, the constitution can only be amended by having 2/3 of the MP vote for it.

IMO, some clauses in the contitution need to be locked and require not only 2/3 of the MPs vote but a referendum with 2/3 of the population in order to be amended.

The Palestinian naturalisation is one clause. Another clause is extending the president's mandate (a better option though would be electing the president directly by the people).

Let's face it, 128 deputies can be easily pressured as we have seen, while it is not possible to pressure a whole population.

As for the subject of this thread, neither Israel nor the USA are Gods. So transfering 1 million palestinians is far fetched specially with the media and internet these days.

Not even this.

The US foreign policy doesn't consider Lebanon as a country, but as a territory.

And I am of those who think that the US and Israel are not really that generous, even if it's paid from the Arabs pockets. So they will not only try to settle the Palestinian refugees that we already have, for free, but will also send us some more...much much more.

If Palestinian refugees are settled in Lebanon, then it means that there is no more Lebanon...Which means that nobody would then care about making it up for us.

So here goes the compensation too...

The funny thing is that instead of resisting and joining us in the fight,Egypt and Jordan will fully help Israel in its plans to transfer as much Palestinians as possible on our lands...should this option be adopted once more...Just like the "loyalists" (to this plan) will...

Today it is important for us to realize that we are lucky to have been able, 2 years ago, to counter the offensive plan that would have ultimately destroyed Lebanon.

The next round seems to be very near...

Zionism and the Concept of "Transfer"
Zionism and the Concept of "Transfer"

The leadership of the Zionist movement understood fully that expulsion of the indigenous Palestinian population was necessary for the movement to realize its goal of a Jewish state in historical Palestine. The following articles describe this facet of Zionist thought, helping to shed light on the 1948 war and subsequent Israeli policies.

What the US would typically do is create a war in the country, maybe vs. Iran and the following will follow:
- Israel will take the advantage to "clean" the south and bekaa for settlement. All eyes will be on the US - Iran war and international public opinion will have other priorities.
- At the same time, and because of this war, oil & gas prices will go up: the surplus value the GCC countries will be making during those few months of war will be used to finance the war and compensation for refugees after that.

End game: US and Israel don't pay, they make oil prices go up and hence GCC pay for them...
