It is very easy to see Mr. Jumblat's problem. The Druze have nothing in Lebanon (no position). Jumblat's family history is every decade or so bi harte2 to gain power ''indirectly''/// I think the country should take this matter seriously and literally give Jumblatt and the honorable Druze sect a rightful constitutional seat of power (Senate) and end this whole debacle. Ultimately, I for one cannot blame the Druze for being P**sed off! The Christians weren't fair with them during independence and we've been suffering ever since.... 1952, 1958, 1975, 80s, 90s, and the great honorable Cedar Revolution of the 2005.....

So it is just carrying on from generation to generation,.... tragic.

However, if the man has blood on his hands as does Abou Samir, I mean Dr. Geagea, then simply ask the honorable sect Druze to chose a new za3eem. I for one find it fascinating
we have royalty in Lebanon and in the Druze sect! He is royal no?

While I am with such a trial, and believe all participants in civil war should be tried if justice is to be served, it is not realistic to think that such a trial will happen. It needs the approval of the Lebanese political class which will never happen: it would be like asking them to put themselves in prison and that won't happen. And it also needs will and interest on part of the international comunity. And that won't happen neither. Do you know how many state crimes and mass massacres have happened in the last 50 years at everybody's total indifference??
Ethnic cleansing may be happening at this very moment in some poor village in Africa without us knowing about it and under the security council's indifference, you are absolutely right. But that does not mean that individuals should also be indifferent regarding any atrocity committed by state or warlord.
I appreciate the fact that you mentioned (seriously and directly) your approval of such a tribunal. This is a first step. But it sure calls for another step of thinking of a way to implement social justice that we are waiting for in order to cure our battered society.
International tribunals and courts started to have a bad reputation lately, so why not a local court? I'm sure if good files are prepared with witnesses and the whole recipe, a serious judge would find grounds for indictment.
