How foolish do i look when i find that such higher principles are no longer the driving momentum behind man's adventure of life.

What can you do... We live in a word of injustice

On a more serious note, most if not all current political leaders participated in the civil war and consequently are candidates for such a trial. But these leaders have people behind them, they have a popular support. And there isn't and won't be an international will to try them, 20+ years after the end of the war.

Why are we going after Jounblat and others.... They are doing what is bets for their community. Jounblat was smart enough to drop the loosing syrian horse. The big problem is in the Christian Community and more specifically the Maronite one. If somebody need to be criticized should be the Batrak. By interferinng in the political process and making the worst decisions ever he has contributed to the status we currently see in Lebanon. If he did not give his cover to TAEF what do you think would have happened. I am interested in possible scenario... WOuld more people have died at the time or less? I don't know... I wonder though

How foolish do i look, again, when i see that my fellow compatriot wants, seeks, and does everything in his powers to send an entire regime to court, even if it costs him his own country's stability for the killing of Mr Lebanon and qafilat al shouhada2 after him BUT completely disregards the massacres and ethnic cleansing made against his innocent fellow compatriots under meager and light arguments even after watching a warlord confess his crimes.

é even a "ba7sa" would have felt something moving inside of it and condemned the words it heard on audio and video.
My foolishness stems from the fact that i believed in man's minimum sense of decency.

Nice poetry and command of the English language. N7a3ta with the use of the word "ba7sa". Pebble in English.

As I said, good luck getting this done. I explained why this won't happen though.

Never underestimate the grievance of loosing a loved one in a cold blooded genocide. Some people have more will than others, and when there's a will, there's always a way.

fidelio,

Lebanese Socialist is actually saying that a trial won't happen...maybe he's trying to be realistic...He didn't make it clear if he was with such a trial or not

Regards

I fail to see the "realistic" approach in the below posts chafic:

Although you are right, he did not make it clear as to where he stands on this issue of justice, he just dissed the proposal of a trial with such arguments as: Go demonstrate, Call Damascus and Tehran, and finally, the "Dream on" classic.

Wlak shou ostak ya fidelio? What's going on in the forums these days? OF COURSE I AM WITH SUCH A TRIBUNAL. But I believe it won't happen for reasons I explained. Because of this, and with all due respect to CPL, I thought the thread was opened for "propaganda" purposes, and to score points on an opponent. Hence my sarcastic replies.

While I am with such a trial, and believe all participants in civil war should be tried if justice is to be served, it is not realistic to think that such a trial will happen. It needs the approval of the Lebanese political class which will never happen: it would be like asking them to put themselves in prison and that won't happen. And it also needs will and interest on part of the international comunity. And that won't happen neither. Do you know how many state crimes and mass massacres have happened in the last 50 years at everybody's total indifference??
