Default if Kerry's is elected does the resolution #1559 will vanish? - 1st November 2004

it is very clear that the politic and the plans in the white house are established long years before now, and every president who is elected he must immediatly react and go on with these plans so it doesn't matter if Kerry or Bush is the president bcz it's the same the resolution 1559 will be soon in Lebanon.

US government stated today it wont send its army to pull Syrians out of Lebanon ... 1559 is a political card for applying Taef and pressuring Syria ... now they want a report in 6 months .... till then i am sure Syria will offer them what they want wou byotla3 el dareb feena ...

First of all, 1559 has nothing to do at all with Taef, it even doesnt have any point in common with it except maybe the one concerning the militias' disarmament !

Concerning sending the army, it's not needed. If this is the only way you rely on to implement political decisions, then this shouldn't necessarily apply in the US. There are much more other ways to pressure in favor of the Resolution.

Anyway, just wait and see !

I think that the USA is trying all the diplomatic processes B4 using force, and delat what's wrong with U? If U want to see the 1559 failing than U'll have to wait and see it failing, ma ten3i 2abel ma yballich ya3te maf3oul especially that evtg shows that it's gonna be applied.

Comrade Bassam,
The US administration said that Syria did not honor Taef, and that the 1559 should help implement it.

If Kerry is elected he may or may not enforce the SAA. The reason for that is that the act gives the US president the right to enforce the sanctions, but does not force him to do them.
Whether he would or not, it remains to be seen in the future. Right now he can promise anything for a vote before the election day.

The 1559 is no longer a US only issue anymore. The UN now is responsible for it.
But whether they do anything with, that remains to be seen as well!

What we know is that Bush has shown true interest in our cause, while Kerry has only talked about it in his campaign, nothing more

Statement by John Kerry on Syrian Interference in Lebanon

Senator John Kerry released the following statement today:

“I strongly support the new UN Security Council resolution calling for the immediate withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon, free and fair elections without interference from Syria, and the disbanding of all armed militias. At a time when the Lebanese people are trying to come together and heal the wounds of years of civil war, it is especially important to protect the independence of Lebanon and bolster public confidence in the sanctity of the constitution. Syrian interference in Lebanese affairs is unacceptable, and only serves to reverse some of the modest steps Lebanon has taken to rebuild itself and its state institutions.

“Like all people in the Middle East and around the world, the Lebanese people are entitled to a life of liberty and peace, free of external dominance and terrorism. We should work to restore the confidence of the many in the region who share our values and have lost faith in our intentions over the past four years. By leading the effort to allow Lebanon to realize these aims and energizing our attempts to spread peace and democracy in the region, we can take an important step in this direction.”

Just to be accurate lfdelta there is only one person in the US administration mentioning Taif and that is Mr. Saterfield and that is the same person who said and I quote "the only reason we did Taif was to take the power from the Maronites and give it to the sunni". Now, there may be nothing wrong with that :!: but have you ever asked these people for the last 15 years why they didn't ask the Syrian to leave according to Taif :?: and where in Taif does it say that the Syrian must leave :?: the answer to this question came from Berri and Karami and Farouk El-Sharaa when they said that the relation between Lebanon and Syria is guided by the Taif   Please tell me where does the Taif say that the Syrian have to withdrawl :?: :?: so the only reason why Saterfield is mentioninig it right now is the same reason why you guys are mentioning it just to say that we're still relevant

You're proving Amerkani right when you make that kind of statement which shows you probably didn't even read the Act  if you listen to the same "US administration official" in the same statement he said that no matter who is the new President he canno't change the policy because it is now OUR LAW :P but like you guys like to do always you pick the word that you like that will satisfy your ego and put it as a "FACT".
