GMA Visiting Iran

IMO, there is nothing wrong in the visit per se. I just have a problem in how it will be portrayed in the media, and we all know how much FPM s*cks in this domain. There's not a dire need to give the loyalist propaganda machine more fuel to their allegations. Unless something really important is going to come out of this visit, I think it's not worth it. We're on the eve of the 2009 elections, and FPM ought to play it right in the media if it is to become the next parliamentary majority.

Of course Hariri goes to KSA all the time, does it worth to mention, after all it is his 2nd (?1st) home.

But GMA meeting Ahmedinejad has a diplomatic message, would be interesting to monitor how foreign media reports about it.

They are surely not going to discuss about the weather...

But this all beside the issue here... Aoun is at the head of the Second biggest parliamentary Blok in the country... and for that he gets invited to many international Forums! One of which now is in Iran.

He is a politician that affects the Local and regional politics very effectively through very intelligent strategic planning and manoeuvres while keeping a valid focus on national issues and benefits, and he has proven it clearly the past 3 years!

Please expect a lot of invitations and visits to various countries for him in the coming period.

in any case, I guess the 14 Febs are trying to get invited but failing miserably… I sense it for example from Amine’s very frequent meetings lately with Iranian delegates and representatives.

Saad visits Saudi Arabia on weekly basis. Heck, Saad spends most of his time in Saudi Arabi...

Amigos, let's cut the c**p . You know as well as I do that relations between countries should be between heads of state, or their representatives, not political parties. Why don't we let go of this defensive reflex of justifying the visit and saying nothing is wrong with it. Such a visit should not happen.

Of course all other parties do behave the same and far worse even, but we do hold FPM to a higher standard. In such a case, we ought to acknowledge that FPM has chosen to play more politics and less principle. That's ok for some, maybe not for others, but it's not headline news. Neither GMA nor FPM is perfect, and we shouldn't expect them to be so.

If some neutrals or FPMers raise their concern, as I would, then its their every right to. As for all other parties, they are in no position to critisize this for they are guilty of far worse.

GMA is in the best position to make such a decision...it is either you believe in GMA's judgment or you don't…

I am not saying that people should not question GMA’s decision….I am just saying that GMA knows all (if not all more then you and I) variables and conditions that surround the situation.

Why are some FPMer's on the defensive ? who cares what Feb14 says, the last three years proved that they are helpless even in stealing votes from FPM, let them bark as much as they want .
