It's not even close to 1990. As much as Aoun is to be considered a challenging factor to the old establishment embodied by Hariri, Joumblat and some loyalist tails, and to some extent also Berri, he is until further notice, if not the only, at least the most important stabilizing factor in our unbalanced and fragile sectarian equation. This is actually how Aoun is mainly valued, in the eyes of influential major players like Syria and Hizbollah.. Also, Even if Syria is not to be considered direct ally, it is definitly not one of Aoun's sworn political foes anymore. For Hizbullah and Franjiyeh, and many others, including SSNP folks, who see in weakening Aoun and FPM a worst case scenario among possible ones, FPM and Aoun represent an invaluable political allying asset they can not risk losing, at least not at this stage of events. So, the same way Aoun did his country, and others, a favor by not siding against Syria and by standing with Hizbullah, when both looked to be encircled from all sides, Hizbullah and Syria will do the same in regard to Aoun. This will remain true as long as the sectarian civil war plans, ready for this country, remain highly topical.

No wonder minor squabbles regarding the elections lists in Jezzine and Baabda have clouded the bigger picture for FPMers and others. Even though Berri is one of the most seasoned speculators in the Lebanese political fish market, there exist unwritten political boundaries not even his political smartness is allowed to intercept or step over, no matter how much he'd love to. One of these is Hizbullah and the other is Syria itself.
Even if Berri is given, and has given himself, certain margins for own initiatives and calculations that benefit own party-centric interests, he's neither allowed, nor will he allow himself, to overdraw his account. A full blown open political repositioning of Berri, together with (unreliable) Joumblat and others who are constantly aroused to finish off Hizbullah, is simply not realistic. Hizbullah and Syria will still tolerate Berri to keep zigzagging and maneuvering around his usual Lebanese routes, just the way he so far has done, but that's all about it.

As for Sleiman, i still fail to see what political advantage will a centrists block offer him that he doesn't already have? And on the expense of what, who and how? I'd be cautious for bogus political analysis and predictions, they are important parts of the disinformation war everyone gets involved in these days.

Finally, i wouldn't belittle the lessons learned about the intentions and consequences of the 2006 Americo-Isreali war on Lebanon, they're still much vivid to be dismissed, for the concerned ones. I hope no one will commit the mistake to believe that our coming elections are the key to a new middle east road map, leading to a permanent and peaceful ME solution including the Iranian nuclear Jinny and the Palestinian refugees problems. In other words, if we are to be considered as a projection to our regional habitat and no indications are yet observed about major political shifts in the region, why should we expect those happening at our little internal duckpond? I expect business as usual, after the 7'th of June, with a slight change in the political constellation: For the first time in 20 years, decent folks will have more to say and bandits will shrink in a corner, chase flies and listen.

إذا الشعب يوما أراد الحياة فلابد أن يستجيب القدر

Believe in yourselves...we faced worse but we stood still. Aoun has what others lack : popular and national support. If 3am nebla3 el mousse for now, it won't be like that each time. All good things come to he who waits.

Since the MAJORITY voted against Carlos Edde in 2005, and since the majority is always right, Carlos Edde must accept that he isn't a good politician.

carlos can't even tie his shoe laces let alone 'know' whether he is a good politician or not.

all that he is good for is being used as cannon fodder by the 14azar smurfs in keserwen to shove as much lf/kataeb/bs votes through him as possible.

We accepted the results in 2005, i wonder if the lebanese voted for good or bad politicians ... unfotunately in lebanon we are still far from differentiating between GOOD AND BAD ...

In all cases we are giving the lebanese the choice once again .. let them chose .. if they will react the same way in 2005. This time the BILL will be much higher and they will keep on paying for long long time because of their CRAZY CHOICE!

THINK RIGHT .... IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FPM ARE WRONG!!
