The ultimate goal is to isolate GMA....and by the way Geagea.
As after Taef....the two main christian leaders where eliminated one in Jail and the other in France.
These two leaders (and their disciples) have demesurate egos and prefers to be slaughtered and all christian with them and not to reconciliate even on survival aims.

History is repeating itself.
I have been reading this thread for some times.
My only commnents:
1. Don't give such an event a size not related to it! They met, and then what?
2. It makes me sad to read some talking that those 2 are after FPM supporters. As if my soul is for sale! It is not sad but a pity to carry such a logic. An FPMer will never move along with Gemayel and while he supports Frangieh that doesn't mean he will move to be a Marada! This is totally misunderstanding FPM all together.
3. FPM is not in a coma . I strongly believe that past the finalization of the government, things will be moving internally. We need to be a bit patient as what we have gone through for the last 3 years was enormous and while the results were good they were not Excellent and up to our dreams.
4. Another thing that makes me sad is when I listen to people saying that now SHN or HA are moving closer to WJ/PSP then GMA/FPM will be aside. This is not understanding the whole relation built up between both parties.

I read a lot in all threads and I guess many here are being a bit as we say in arabic " Faylasouf"

why is FPM in such a deep coma?
FPM will keep on losig if christian reconciliation is not done
GMA is in great position to get the credit
Sami cannot do it
There are a lot more in common between FPM / Kataeb / Marada and LF than with FM amal and HA
IT'S A MUST and its time to do it

sami & SF meeting was mainly directed against sg....
nadim is on his way for a meeting too.

NOTHING IS DIRECTED AGAINST FPM in a way form or shape.
SF has been in contcat with gemayels from 05 and beyond.
gemayel realizes that sg is their arch enemy and not FPM.

what will be the second move and if this move will develop further between SF and gemayel and than us, for now i believe it is too early to tell.

we need to have a govt and to see how it is formed and whether mou3arad will be there or not.

sa3doun is trying seriously to open a new page with SF, not to move himaway from FPM ( he knows he can not), but he realized that in the north there are two forces on the ground ( sg, SF) with the latter more palatable and more christian cred that the first.
also outside bacharre in the north SF is way more popular than sg.

all this is too early to see how it will lead.
my personal hunch, no where.just meetings for the next 2-3 years.
talk-talk.

LF made avery strong showing in the north in 2009
they won in batroun, bsharre, koura and had very good numbers in zgharta

So now the entire loyalist factions in the North are reduced to LF? How very accurate.

The loyalists won in Batroun thanks to Harb's fame/connections & expats>> it's LF's win.
The loyalists won in Koura thanks to Makary's fame/connections & expats>> it's LF's win.
The loyalists' results in Zgharta are thanks to Mouawwad legacy & expats>> it's LF's merit.

Typical! LF practices the same "shoumouli" mentality it accuses its opponents of.

Agree with you with a slight correction LF > SF + FPM + Kataeb :-)

Any Christian-Christian rapproachment is a good thing for Lebanon and for the Christians. That's our Batrak's ever sounding advice. We like Sami and he operates with outmost care for the Christian interests overall. If the Kateab provide the bridge for an Marada-LF reconciliation, then we're all for it. I have always said that historically the LF and Marada (pre-Franjieh) have common roots and goals. Ehden's massacre was a grave political mistake committed by the Kataeb party in its bid to control the north in the 70s. Simply, they over-reacted without properly accounting for the reation and the Syrian plan....but that's history now.
