FPM didn't lose any votes.

In 2005, FPM got 62% of votes, in which 13% are hesitated voters.
In 2009, FPM got at least 52% of votes, which means majority of hesitated voters didn't vote for FPM.

There are many reasons for that voters to don't vote for FPM, including Propaganda and lies, Buying Votes, The Patriarch's stance, etc.

1. Propaganda and lies.

2. Buying votes

3. The bringing of expats

4. The Patriarch's stance

5. The MoU with Hezbollah

6. Relations with Syria

7. Other
1. Sadly, a big majority of neutrals watch LBC, that hurt us pretty much.
2. Of course, but that hurt us more with the sunni vote than the christian.
3. Yeah, it had a big influence
4. Very minimal, I don't think anyone really cares what he says, they just defend him because he's against GMA
5. Yes a lot, but it was the right thing to do and history will prove that.
6. At the point where GMA visited Syria, it couldn't have hurt his support, if he had done it earlier it would have been a disaster
7. Some lousy politicians FPM has, like Issam Abou Jamra for example, of course this is my opinion, I know a lot of you do not agree.

It is really a result of series of events starting with:

1) Demos
2) Burning tires and spreading and encouraging a chaotic environment
2) Closing the parliament
4) Blocking the presidential elections
5) FPM stance with Hezbollah - spokemouth
6) No clear roadmap with the MOU
7) Too much dwelling on secterian issues made FPM lose its credibility as a secular party
8) GMA stand on May 7
9) FPM not very clear with the disarmament issue
10) Campaign ads that confused your voters (third republic)
11) not much support to the Lebanese Army
12) Media quality
13) Attacking the Patriarch
etc
Not taking shots at you but those were some of the reasons you lost imo

Everything you mentionned but at the same time, those points you mentionned made them increase the popularity as well. Some people dont like HA just because they are shiaas and those are the racist people in the christians and those people follow whatever the church say. On the other side, some educated people saw that FPM were trying to be the understanding between HA and they want peace instead a new civil war thats why they did the MoU instead of creating tensions between sects. The problem with FPM is the media and we didnt concentrate on showing how much Saudis axis was bad, we kept defending ourselves instead of bashing the other camp on popular tv, in the next elections, we should put refuse to be in the saudi kingdom and refuse to make Palestinians live instead of you, you want blue sky, make peace with the different visions of Lebanese daily neighbour instead of bashing your differences. Plus there is another thing I have thaught about, we should increase the power of women more by saying sentences like : behind every great women, there is a great men! its like sois belle et vote!

The error , according to "alakhbar" was amiscalculation of the expats intentions. Akhbarsays that March8 electoral teams thought expats would have the same % of votes as the locals, wheras in fact, for equal numbers, they voted much more for march 14. But, do we have to forbid them? Are they not christians also?
