It doesnt matter which method you use. My point was to make it as convenient to the donors as you can.
Take the method you mentioned you have to follow these steps:
1- Decide to donate
2- Make the effort to go to the bank and get a money order. Pay commission and/or foreign currency exchanges fees
3- Take the money order
4- Post it to lebanon and hope it ends with up with the right recipient
5- Beneficiary receives it
6- He goes to the bank and deposit it
7- Bank says it takes three weeks to clear
8- Three weeks later, money deposited in beneficiary bank account less most likely a set fee of bank charges
The paypal method is much more convenient IMO
1- Decide to donate
2-Log on paypal and process payment
3- Beneficiary receives fund within a couple of days
Telegraphic transfers have2 downsides:
1- Your own bank may not process payments to some bank in lebanon and if they do they may want a proportionally high fees. My bank for example if it deals with this specific bank in Lebanon will charge me $40 to do a telegraphic transfer
2- Again very few would make the effort to actually go to the bank to make a donation so making it easier could be more beneficial. It's all psychological.
Bottom line, make it convenient to people and let them ultimately choose the method they are most comfortable with.
