FM was on 1979??????????? What the heck are you talking about.?
1979 is when Rafic Hariri started his philanthropic activities and strarted giving aid to all lebanese regardless of sect and political thought

I think there was something lost in translation here. Perhaps you misunderstood my post, or I didn't understand this reply. Why did you mention this 1996 article?

It's a false claim in my opinion. I see however, a certain perspective in that claim. FM, ever since the death of PM Hariri had gained a lot of sympathy from all sects and the whole 14 March supporters. So this whole wahhabist extremist side of Hariri's FM was overshadowed by that tragic event which portrayed FM as a victim. Therefore, It was kind of "convenient" for some Christians ( although few) who are not fond of Kataeb and LF yet want to join the trend to adhere to a party to lean towards FM. However, I feel most of that was limited to mere sympathy and practically in general Christians did not go a step further into pledging full support to the Future Movement. So FM gained Christian sympathy but not on the expense of LF and Kataeb. That and the sympathy did not translate to a christian base.

But your statement above is an over simplification of the election process, and is misleading (being polite here). "Most" of the Christians on FM list or PSP list or HA/AMAL list are not elected by Christian constituents, but rather by an overwhelming Muslim voter blocks.

If we had a law where Christians can only elect Christians and similarly onthe Muslim side, then the LF/Kateab duo will get the Lion share of the Christian vote.Elie
Yes indeed the CHRISTIANS in Ashrafieh got a sample and a show of the behaviour of the supporters of such a "moderate muslim oriented party" in Feb 2006 and trust me they have not forgotten

On the "Lion Share of Christian votes" yes you are right the majority of the christians figured out a long time ago that you are and you do get "7oset el Assad"

This is what I call reaching to all Lebanese, and across the boundaries of sects, by capitulating all the way. All political Lebanese entities are made of the same rotting fiber.
Indeed...A Party needs to be made of the worst rotting fiber to get the support of the Shiite community. There is no other way to do it.
