Because the Syrian regime isn't interested in a strong and competitive Lebanon, rather one that is subject to its political sphere of influence - its past performance in terms of violent acts lends further credence to that particular point.

That is indeed your opinion, Mozambique and Tanzania (I assume you meant those countries) do not share at all the same political dimensions with Lebanon that Syria does.
