Talking about freedom of speech... a simple suggestion of relocating an Shiite officer (in actuality a Spy for Hizbullah) at the Beirut airport caused a full invasion of the Capital and all the ugliness that followed (while you were clapping). Now, you come talk to us about a teacher losing his contract at LAU for insulting our Batrak ??? you lost your common sense a long time ago!! Allah ysa@edkoun malla sha@eb!

At the end of the day, while revolting, it was to be expected I guess given how some "forces occultes" operate in this country...

Hopefully he'll find a better job with less bajam students ...

As for the Batrak, I haven't been to a Maronite church in a long time, and unlikely I'll go to one anytime soon...

Mnee7 l 2oudiet 3a job loss mish excommunication for poor Dr Sarkis. 3al2aleeleh ma ra7 yrou7 3a jhannam. Bi2addiya n2ar howneek with Patriarchs 7owayyek and 3areeda.

I loved the bit about Amin Gemayyel and Michel Murr. They are so true so true.

Anyway as an adherant to the Maronite faith I think we should pass a resolution that no maronites north of Beirut should ever be made Patriarchs or even presidents. they are disasters in occupying either of those two offices in the land.(Charles 7elou being an exception but that is just because he was half French from Jouneih and half Lebanese)

i didn't realize that relocating an officer was actually an issue of freedom of speech...
do u also think that WWI, WWII, Desert Storm, Napoleonic wars were all freedom of speech matters?

perhaps u should explain to us, graduates from Universities other than the prestigious Harrington, what freedom of speech means?

anyway, back to the main subject which apparently seems to be too complicated for graduates of Harrington University...

-the University is giving a very bad example to its student about respect of other people ideas and the right to express those ideas... this is what all universities are about.. illumination and enrichment...

what happened to Dr Sarkis is not different to what has happened to anti-zionist scholars in the US... Finkenlstein and many other scholars who dared stand against the zionists had their tenures canceled at their universities..

Dr Sarkis is very strong arguments in his text... mainly the controversy seen in the Batrak's decisions.... the fact that he considers more than 60% of the population to be wrong...etc.. etc... etc...

we should spread this article as witness to freedom of speech..

I wonder if somebody at LAU had ever heard of Voltaire.
Who?

i didn't say the the official FPM should interfere........ not at all
but our media should make a big deal about this , just like defending any other citizen who's being fired based on his political thoughts
