It is pity to have church laws that goes against the fundamental of Christianity. Jesus himself was slanders at every turn, by rivals and close friends. Peter denied him yet he made him one of the cornerstone in building the church as Jesus wanted it. Paul was a butcher of Christians yet he was forgiven and made a 180 degree turn to serve the church he persecuted and everyone know what Paul did to the church. nothing in the bible, nothing at all every mention that excommunication should be done on personal differences with the priest or bishop but rather on believing/disbelief in the
message of Christ. Now my question, does the Batrak promote the message of Christ as was intended to be??

"The church does not have political inclinations. Its duty is to enlighten peoples' consciences," Rai told a press conference at the Catholic Center for Information in Jal el-Dib, north of Beirut.

To enlighten peoples' consciences does not include to install fear and resentment in their minds and hearts.

The patriarch's only concern, according to Rai, is to preserve the unity of faith and Lebanon's independence.

Any example of doing such in the last 20 years??? but hey, wait a minute, I take it back, yes he is unifying his parishioners in a discourse path of his dislike, and thank you for that!

"It's a pity to see the politicization of religion and declaring war in the name of religion," he said.

Who is doing that, is it Aoun who want to declare Emarat Aounstan of pure maronity entities; or is it Sielman Frangieh trying to resurrect the glory of Al-Marada in the north that could threaten the black army battalions resides on the hill above? as for FEI, Hariri, Junblat, SG, no they are peace loving people and they cared about the maronite wellfare and never dare to use religion to declare war because they are afraid of excommunication by their respective "Batrak".

"All patriarchs made efforts to have a single and united Lebanon. All they cared about was to protect the Lebanese entity and the unity of the faith. They paid a heavy price for that," Rai said.

The Episcopal commission for communication speaks on behalf of the Catholic church in Lebanon, the Bishop said. He urged media outlets to obtain the required information from the commission.
Rai said every person will be held responsible for any news story that does not cite a source from Catholic media centers.

Rai said the country's political scene has been transformed into a battle field and politicians are clashing and fighting rather than competing on political programs.

Nothing new ya very reverend bishop! just different faces get used to it.

The bishop said the church and other religions condemn a private Israeli TV show that ridiculed Jesus and Mary.
In the program, Israeli comedian Lior Shlein sarcastically denied Christian traditions — that Mary was a virgin and that Jesus walked on water — saying he was doing so as a "lesson" to Christians who deny the Holocaust.

The batrak did not issue an official condemnation memo until was asked by media. and when he condemned it, y3ani kan shi fantastic and very moving, indeed.
