Default Cyber Elections - 2009 Parliamentary elections and the Internet - 19th September 2008

2009 Parliamentary elections is around the corner, make no mistake, the e-campaign will be one of the most important campaigns, in 2005 FPM's online performance was very good, but it was unorganized.

This time around we have to organize things and make sure the online campaign is in parallel with FPM's general campaign.

There are things that cant be done online, but there are also things that can only be done online, so the e-campaign will be a special case and will be handled by people who are aware of the latest internet technology (tayyar.org staff), but we (the tayyar.org staff) will need as much as help FPMers can offer us. Each one of you can be part of the e-campaign.

So i will list the things that will be part of the e-campaign with all the details, if you have any further suggestions, please share them with us.

1 - tayyar.org - The staff of tayyar.org will be in chare but we are open to suggestions.

2 - The Orange Room - Those who were on the Forum in 2005 can remember how important the Forum was, this time around it will be the same and more, I have many ideas on my mind and will introduce them by time, but I want to listen to your suggestions and ideas too (for example we can invite our candidates to the Forum and interview them).

3 - A Blog - I will reopen lfpm.org soon, it will be a WordPress blog, those who are familiar with Blogs will have to help me, the Blog will not be officially affiliated with FPM, so we will have the freedom to say whatever we want, but the Blog will be 100% behind FPM and will be promoting FPM, but it won't be a traditional Blog with thousands of boring words, the Blog will have different sections, things like youtube videos (someone will be in charge of finding videos on youtube and adding them to the Blog), caricature (someone will be in charge of adding comments on pictures and present them as caricatures), sarcastic articles (basically to make fun of our opponents) in addition to serious articles about the elections (so those who are interested in becoming writers on the blog please contact me).

4 - Facebook - unfortunately, the Facebook is completely unorganized, there are hundreds of groups related to FPM, none is official, and if we don't organize it, there will be hundreds of groups related to the elections. So what we are going to do is open one group related to the elections and promote it, so those who are active Facebook users will have to help us, again contact me in private if you are interested and use this thread for suggestions.

5 - Youtube - 2 things related to Youtube, 1 - Videos we should add on Youtube and 2 - Videos on Youtube we should spread around (using the blog for example), so we need people who can create videos and upload them to Youtube (the videos can be taken from TVs or your own work). And we need people who will scan YouTube and bring interesting videos to spread around.

6 - Media Defamation and Websites - We should follow what is happening online, be aware of what is going on around us, but this should be done in an organized way, we don't want to unintentionally promote our opponents and their websites, but in the same time we have to be aware of what they are doing so we counter them.

If you have any other thing that can be added to the list above, please post in this thread, we as tayyar.org staff can not do the above on our own, we need people to volunteer and help us. We have time but the sooner we start our e-campaign, the better.

So don't sit around waiting for others to come forward, if you are an active online user and want to be part of FPM's campaign, contact me (or use this thread) and let's start working.

My thanks go to X's initiative and proactivity, I look forward to knowing more about the FPM and C&R candidates especially their own individual agendas beyond that of the party, good luck.

Will an online donation be set up early so that FPM can maximize the donations for it electoral campaign?

it was previously discussed in this thread: 2009 Parliamentary elections - donations & fundraising

usually in canada and US election campaigns, bashing your opponents is acceptable in video ads is acceptable. are we allowed to do this or should we only stick to what FPM has done, achieved, and capable of doing?

The party is fighting individual initiative unfortunately... I fear it doesn't know that it is committing suicide by doing so...
But individual initiative requires no prior approval or coordination, so I call all activists to take the initiative and resist the party's increasing bureaucracy and fight the ones who are killing the FPM spirit (both willingly and unwillingly).

Some ideas:

1) Organize e-meetings with the candidates, let them explain their electoral programs and let the forumers ask them questions (Eventhough I suppose that not everyone would be able to ask his/her questions and seeing that the forum staff shouldn't be the one doing the screening, maybe the candidate could chose the questions he would like to answer to). Let there also be questions by non-FPMers where we could let other people understand what the FPM is doing and why.

2) Sequel to 1) : Open a subforum for all candidates

3) More organisation in the forum, enno really a lot of members here who think they are protecting the FPM by being violent against none FPMers are actually destroying its image.

4) Organize campaigns in other forums where a certain team of our forumers could go and explain FPM's vision in the best way possible.

(La2anno people who don't like the FPM or who don't know what the FPM is, won't come here, and it's our job to go towards them and not the other round)

5) Organize an e-mail database of supporters (and none supporters) this way we could send an e-mail with details about the campaign etc (like Barack Obama's e-campaign)

I think that the internet war will be very tough, but the FPM already has a slight advantage and it should start using it.

Mass e-mails are great to keep people in touch with the reality

i like the blog idea especially if it's gonna have a 'free' pro fpm sarcasm section.

Voltaire never died i tell u, the divinely dim witted genius of some ppl keeps bringing him back like a pulse resurrected, refreshingly sober and keen on being nastier than ever as a normal stabilizing reaction..

Remember what Sun-tzu said: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer".

The less you know your adversary, the more you'll be disconnected from reality.

You should get to know your adversary more than he knows himself

I propose a thread for emergency issues.

I predict that the bitters will do everything possible to derail the elections,or prevent a fair competition. This thread should relate to what is happening on the ground only.It should be restricted to accurate reports and complaints.

Any infringement, misbehavior, irregularity on the ground, could be reported instantly in this thread, and then notified immediately to the electoral machine,to take appropriate action and measures at once. An elections watch thread.
