I am an independent and will give you my vote if FPM clearly takes these 10 steps before the 2009 Elections:

1. Declare officially and humbly that last period since 2005 was one of turbulence and growing pains where FPM was forced to try different maneuvers to survive. (Not everyone will buy that but it is a good message to explain a change in course that will follow.)

2. Reaffirm unequivocally the principles of sovereignty, democracy and secularism.

3. Declare that although FPM understands HA's position, FPM would like to move forward with a clear and expeditious timetable towards integration of weapons into the army and the reorganization of HA under the army's umbrella and command. Declare clearly the decoupling of this activity from Shebaa and any other excuse. Suggest a one year timeline for that to be accomplished.

4. Declare the support of a one-year time line for all Palestinian factions inside and outside the camps to disarm. Declare that this need not be tied with the disarmament of HA, and it doesn't matter which should be done first. both are equally important.

5. Break publicly all alliances with Feudals, and declare that you are categorically against Feudalism, and would like to run independently as a modern democratic secular party all over Lebanon.

6. Publish a clear and detailed policy program.

7. Do not sponsor Bassil or any other relative of GMA, for a parliamentary position.

8. Declare a set of demands that FPM believes Syria and Israel should do to redress their relations with Lebanon.

9. Stop all propaganda and yellow journalism in all FPM media outlets.

10. Hold all internal FPM elections.
If you are honest and keep this level of (unrealistic) requirements until the elections, I am sure you won't vote for any party or any candidate whoever he is.

I am being honest, but I don't think that what I listed is unrealistic at all for FPM. They can easily do these things, if they choose to. In fact this is what they should have done to begin with, but failed to, and what I am saying is that it may not be too late yet to adjust the party's course of action.

Please tell me which of the items is unrealistic and why? I am curious.

Also tell me which of the items contradicts FPM's professed principles?

Note: Please remember that I am not saying that FPM will be able to drive Lebanon in these directions as a whole. I am saying it can take these positions as a political party and drive its own direction and expectations of the government as such.

Avoid deforming FPM's stands and you will see that half of your points are useless.

Obviously I do not see these points as useless. Also, I do not believe that I am deforming anything. I honestly and sincerely believe in what I am saying. If you are trying to say that FPM is already doing them (the 10 points), then certainly many people are missing that including me, it is not clear at all.

If you would like to help the intent of this thread, then provide an answer to each of the 10 points I brought up and you will have 10 Q&A's addressed...

out of curiosity and to answer a question that has dogged me all my life: Has anyone convinced anyone of changing their minds about anything politics?

hehe, when I was at uni, I convinced many students! It's easy to do it when you are a trustworthy and when you are convinced by your political beliefs

In politics, you can only wake up one day,and find yourself on the "right" side.

And if you're still "asleep and dreaming",someone will still find a way to trick you in the last second to vote for him.

However,if you still manage to escape, someone will still get to the extent of voting in your name, and talking in your name.
