So why did FPM fail in changing and reforming? Why will FPM succeed in 2009 when it failed in 2005? (In Change and reform)
simply because FPM didn't participate in the government and was in the opposition for 3 years, it was only 6 months ago when FPM participated in the power and in this relatively short period FPM has left major marks behind it,especially in the MOT and the social affairs minisrtry...

Even if FPM got 21 MPs in 2005, it did not have real executive power. The minute FPM got ministers in the government, we saw the hard work they did and are doing, and the reforms they are working on, and the telecommunications ministry is one example.
We have inherited a rotten system of thieves, corruption and mahssoubiyet and that is everywhere, 20 years of all that can't be erased by few months and still, our ministers are doing a great job given the little time they had.

Let me propose you a deal: if you have voted for FPM in 2005 then you must be one of those who are seeking change, thus, you should give yourself and FPM a chance, give FPM a chance to prove itself when it is actually in power, and then, and only then you can judge it. If it would be up to your expectations, then you would have had a big part in the change and reform of your country, if not, then FPM would be like all others and you would punish it in every way you can (democratically of course, not the thugs, bats and knives way).

my answer would be the following, plain and simple:

we know that as FPM and GMA in particular, we have made several controversial and eyebrow-raising decisions to say the least; these decisions may have shaken ur trust in us, but i'm sure that on the long run and as further events unraveled, u discovered that everything we did was in Lebanon's favor. and with ur support in the upcoming elections, we promise you that we will stay on track and continue to fulfill your aspirations, even in ways that you might sometimes perceive as weird...vote orange, vote FPM!

You can not change a thing if you are not in power. The best thing you can do in opposition is to criticise as much as you can and hope that the critics’ bites and the government changes its attitude.

You want change? Then the FPM and reform willing allies should be in a clear majority in the next government without sharing power with the opposition.

Change and reform can't be achieved within 3 years. Nevertheless if you were out of the executive power.

Change and reform requires no less than 5 years to be achieved in Lebanon, taking into consideration you have full executive power.

That's why, I don't consider that FPM failed to achieve change and reform. FPM failed in Baabda-Aaley / North elections which led to minimal force in the change and reform process.

However, I do consider that FPM indirectly started the change and reform. The under table deals and stealing state money has decreased ever since FPM was present on the political level. Other parties are starting to worry about making under table deals and stealing money.

This of course doesn't mean change and reform was applied. I do see that FPM has started indirectly the change and reform eventhough the process is slow. But started directly this process through the ministries it got, like the telecommunication.

FPM continues to promise you in change and reform and is never holding back.
You should vote FPM in 2009 to make sure you give FPM the enough power to start the change and reform. Failure of FPM in 2009 is everyone's failue and it is you and me to blame for not achieving change and reform.

FPM have delivered its promises where it could and still on its words to deliver all promises!

Well X, i tried to give a short answer but that's the shortest I could get.
I will answer your first post shortly.

X,
FPM has truly shown that it cares for national unity. Never once FPM have made any declarations that tend to marginalize any sect in Lebanon. FPM defended Joumblat, Saniora when they were attacked by Syria. FPM defended HA when israel launched its war.

If this shows anything, it is that FPM act based on national objectives and vision and not personal ones.

In Lebanon, we do miss such mentality. Almost all parties in Lebanon do their actions based on personal profit. Very little they take into considerations how they might affect the countries situations.

FPM has a vision and strong bases for an independent and sovereign country.
You saw how FPMrs felt during Nahr l Bader war and how we felt ready to help the army. You also know how FPM acted during the july war and never cared whether its decisions are opposing the greatest power in the world. FPM made actions based on patriotism. It is because FPMrs truly feel Lebanese and not feel christians or muslims, FPM is 100% Lebanese.

FPM doesn't engage people with imaginary battles, instead FPM puts the finder on the wound. We have been honest in every move we made, and what is more important we are ready to provide solutions.
We provide solutions for all our problems, while others are just living to criticize and never provide the alternative.

Even though, those solutions might put us under the scope and media attack. but we simply don't care. We put all our resources for our country. We have been through a lot.
FPM have been through war,
FPM have been through political attack and exile,
and both situations we never hold back. That is because we truly believe that Lebanon can prosper as a country.

Now hopefully, in the moments of peace we are addressing all Lebanese and we want to solve their daily problems.

Other parties are putting Lebanese in world wide tactics and give them illusion battles to make them forget about their daily problems with are the true reason behind our problems. We will proceed with the change and reform till the end.

Other parties tend to put hate in the heart of their partisans in order to keep controlling them while FPM is putting peace and love in our hearts. This mentality is the only hope for Lebanon to achieve its unity.

History showed and the futur will tell that FPM never stabb a fellow Lebanese in the back using foreign power. Wasn't joyful when we felt the spirit of national unity back in march 14th 2005? FPM will help to feel it for the rest of our lives.

We truly believe we can make a change and cure this country from all its negativity. Was it not that we believe in the change and reform that we can make, we as party would have demolished long time ago.

"X" This is a very compelling thread and an ideal location for me to launch my election campaigne.

I will be running as an independant, considering the cesspool lebanon's political scene has become.

My motto is " Always stand for what you believe in, even if it means losing".

The first topic on my agenda will be supporting a referendum, that would be put forward to the lebanese people, as to what governing system they wish to adopt ( Current, Federal, Secular, Socialistist, Baathist, monarchy etc). Lebanon's governing systems have always been created and forced onto us by others, and have all failed. I think its time for us to make that choice.

Second, we need to create an independant commission against corruption. This commission cannot be politicized, and should have the powers to investigate and prosecute anyone within the Lebanese borders. Including "espescially" politicians.

I will propose a land tax levy on foreign ownership, thus increasing government revenues, and preventing our country from being taken over by foreigners.

I will propose a peace treaty with Israel, on the proviso that israel accept to allow the return of all palestinians on lebanese soil to return to their homes.

I will propose the immidiate incorporation of the hizbullah army into the National army corp, to which, all command, soldiers and munitions fall under the control of the national army. This will be accompanied by a law banning all forms of weapons amonst civillians.

I will propose an economic revival strategy, that encourages Lebanese abroad to invest and assist in boosting Lebanon's economy.

I will propose tax cuts to companies that employ 100% of their staff of Lebanese backgrounds.

I will propose ammending media ownership laws, to prevent politicans from owning or investing in media outlets.

I will propose banning foreign political donations to political parties. Any foreign donations can only be made to the government, that disperses these funds, as the government finds suit, undiscriminantly.

I will propose an environmental policy that includes the upgrade and creation of a sewer network for all Lebanon. Lebanon has been blessed with its water sources, lets not keep polluting it. Same goes to domestic waste management, and a strategy to deal with the air pollution, particular in the major cities.

These are just a few of the strategies I have put forth.

If you agree with most of the strategies put forth, click on the thankyou button below, and where you disagree, just comment

I agree with all the previous posters who mentioned that FPM cannot pass their reform and change program if they were in the opposition almost all the time and they didn't have the majority in the government.

But I would like to disagree with you here in a crucial issue.

Although FPM was in the opposition and didn't have the majority, they succeeded indeed in changing and reforming some very important problems we had in Lebanon.

Due to FPM's long and hard battle, we succeeded in getting rid of Ghazi Kenaan's election law and got ourselves a much much better one which few years back, it was just a dream to achieve it.
