Default common issues between march14 and march8 - 14th February 2009

we always argue on the so many political issues that divide between march14 and march8.
can we still find anything in common that may keep us united?
any thoughts?

It wasn't so crowdy here.. Judging from the amount of replies to your question, it seems that no one in here finds anything in common between the two camps. Not surprising however, especially when one takes into account that each camp considers the other camp for being a bunch of aliens who, uninvited, were dropped on this land by Unidentified Flying Objects, one early morning 4 years ago.

But since it takes an alien to know an alien, one can safely assume there exist at least some similarities between these two creations, and the question becomes: What similarities can one identify between them?

Both breath air, breed, get children and consume "fool, hoummos, tabboule and arak" for energy production. They also share advanced behavioral patterns, like banda2a, hospitality, bragging and vanity, in addition to more basic innate ones called feelings, in the form of expressing happiness, sadness, boredom and excitement. Hating traffic jams and enjoying the sight of a cool summer breeze fondling the face of a motionless afternoon sea, are among other noticed peculiarities they share. They usually love artistic things, like the song of a bird, Fayrouz or Haifa Wehbe and are good at higher algebra, like doing one plus one on crowds at squares.

Moreover, all members of those two camps are organically programmed to always seek self preservation and survival, first and foremost and at all costs, with no questions asked. So, when faced with some sort of danger - to their brains imagined or real - they fight back, or just run in the opposite direction.

Both claim they adore Lebanon and love Lebanon's army, justice, independence and sovereignty over everything else. Just as much as they both hate corruption, sectarianism, tribalism and being tools in other foreign aliens hands, they both abhor even more the thought of having Palestinian aliens parked on their land.

And here ends common denomination and all similarities inside this alienship. As you see, they really don't have much in common.

March 14 or March 8 people essentially have no differences whatsoever if you take away the leaders. Lebanese like all people want to live in peace, dignity and freedom.
The problem we have in Lebanon is that people are so high on emotions and are easily blinded by idolizing and almost worshiping of leaders and politicians. People in the civilized world treat politicians as PUBLIC SERVANTS; that's how they should be treated; they are praised when they do the right thing and are held accountable and shunned when they do wrong.

Everything on the social level is common between us, good luck trying to hold a politician accountable no matter what party he belongs to.

We still have a very long way to go before we call Lebanon a farm.

What King Rami means is that FPM is the mama of 14 azar movement, which means that FPM knows well and in depth the value of freedom, independence and sovereignty, but should not be considered as full member in that mutated league. FPM happens also to have evolved into becoming a close partner to the 8 azar movement, which means it has exchanged deep trust and mutual understanding on certain issues with those people.

Without overestimating this unique position, FPM has the potential to play the good bridge between the two.. Bass shou baddak bi king Rami's theoretical speculation, stick to mine: Between aliens of a kind, there's not much in common.

demonstrations. Both excel! good common point.

the best common one is treating each other of traitors. 1 side become al souhyoniyeh el amrrrriikani, and the other one become the iranians agent.

while their might be things in common, at this stage there are only bad things in common that can't be capitalized on to find a solution.

when each side wants to get rid of the other there seriously isn't anything left in common.

i used to think i can find a solution with saad harriri for instance, the keyword here being 'used to'.

now, i'm looking for a solution to get rid of him.

the same sentiment was uttered yesterday by saad himself when he said that whoever wins the elections should rule alone.

in a balanced country like lebanon, saad has pushed his luck so far that we are probably at the no turning back point.

i still remember how cute were all the familiar politician pets of 14bazar when they were hammering us day and night about 'there can't be an absolute majority in consensual lebanon' b4 the elections of 2005.. how quaint.

so there is nothing left in common between the two political camps and their supporters are stuck in the eye of the sh*t storm now.
