Do you honestly think that a new schism within the Church would make it a lot easier for everyone ? It would practically solve nothing.
Nevertheless what struck me most is that you're counting on a
drastic move made by the Lebanese Christians in order to sort things out. Well, the chances of this happening is like that of Pamela Anderson still being a virgin right now. And we both wouldn't bet on that.
Anyway, if for once the Lebanese have the guts to stand up for something happening to be in their interest, then such a "drastic move" should be that of understanding this simple fact : religion is to be kept in its rightful place, which is the personal and individual level. Let every single clergyman - and that INCLUDES priests, cheikhs, patriarchs, muftis, ayatollahs, rabbis talmudists and whatever sick minded blinded by power and thirsty for more trickster - mind his own business and stick his filthy nose exclusively into his own field of expertise.
History teaches us that every time some dark age laid down its claws anywhere on the globe, then it was bolstered, established and nurtured by clerics and by "men of God". Be it directly or not.
But hey, I would still bet on Pamela Anderson. The stakes would still be higher.
