For the life of me I dont know the difference between Mosaic and fousyfesa' but I am sure interior decorators would know. I am just jealous in the chuches being built in my towm not one single person thought of having mosaic and the closest to art work we will have are some stained glass windows made in Saida depicting images of the biggest donors and their family members as saints and apostles. And I read somewhere that the folks in that town live in mud huts still. Wouldnt such opulence be out of place? Yalla who cares, it's all done for the glory of God. |
Not all churches should have mosaique, the most beautiful churches are the small ones, the old ones with no statues, just a small alter and few seats. Some churches are made to be big and impressive, it's fine but I do not like them.
Talking about the surroundings and its poverty, it reminded me of the Greek Orthodox church in Bhamdoun, the one that joumbi and his awedim has wrecked until the last stone and ransacked until the last chair. Now the Bhamdoun citizens are rebuilding the church, actually it's almost done, it is grandiose, it cost until now many millions of dollars, they even got an Italian artist to do all the paintings inside the church, it is beautiful of course, and then around it you still have buildings, empty with huge holes in them from shelves. I think the exaggeration in building this church and the money invested in it is a reaction from the Bhamdoun people for all what happened to them.
