Default Batroun elections 2009 - 10th November 2008

Maronite electors: 42250
Orthodox: 9135
Sunni: 3063
Catholic: 1376
Shiaa: 888
Arm. Orthodox: 184
Arm. Catholic: 119
Alawi: 38
Evangilist: 4
Druze: 0
Minorities: 50

Candidates competing on two Maronite seats.

Current MPs:
1- Boutros Harb
2- Antoinne Zahra

Candidates supposed to be running for 2009 elections:

1- Gebran Bassil
2- Boutros Harb
3- Antoinne Zahra
4- Samer Saadeh
5- George Mrad??

One important thing to be taken into consideration.
3 candidates for March 14 for 2 seats.
1 for Harb, 1 for LF, 1 for kataeb

Reasons:
1- LF and Kataeb couldn't agree who should take the second seat.
2- Samer Saadeh will eventually leave it for Zahra(most probably), but:

- LF and Kataeb want to benefit from the two electoral machines to the maximum, thus working as if both are running to the last moment.
- Increasing the number of ''mandoubine'', as they did in the last Matn by elections.

Incase FPM wins, they will say it is thanks to the 888 shiite votes only...

in this regards, my friend (Saadeh Family - and furthermore Georges Saadeh 3erabo) told me that if LF will not let Samer George Saadeh run in Batroun they will regret it big time, since Kataebis will either vote for Gebran Bassil or boycott the elections, and he told me that they don't care if Feb 14 give the tripoli seat for Samer they won't vote for the LFer in batroun

In a latest poll i read a month ago in a newspaper, Bassil wasd heading the poll in the coastal regions of batroun and in the middle while Botrous Harb was leading in the mountain villages (Tannurin etc). Overall Bassil was 1st!

Don't be sure, The figures are very close and I am sure that FM will put all their efforts to make Gebran loose

HIS SEAT IS NOT GUARANTEED
