As for air capabilities during Nahr El Bared, we needed fixed wing jets that can bomb.
Of course we can't get Apache any soon as you are wishing, but there is a very big hope that we will get the Cobras. edit Quote:

| We don't have Shilka. We only have manually guided AA cannons such as ZU-23-2 and ZPU-4. | | | | | Registered Member

As for the Shilka the Mourabitoun Aqcuired some from different Factions like Army of Arab Lebanon, Libya, North Korea..
They don't have them today, Most were destroyed by Israel and some by Syria The rest Kolailat Ordered them to Self destruct the tanks in 85 so that AMAL and PSP could not have them. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

I've seen pictures of them under the Lebanese army flags. | | | | | Registered Member

Yeah i know that the army used them previously during the civil war, but I'm saying that the LAF currently does not have any. | | | | | Registered Member

| What is your source?
I haven't been across this in any of the LAF inventories and order-of-battle that I read. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

Lebanese Army is in the top ten Armies in the world that possesses M113 Armored Personnel Carriers, with over 1300 units.
Lebanon should work on improving such vehicles and equip them with all sort of reinforcements and modified towers, including high tech systems and weaponry such as latest generations of radars,missiles,...etc...etc...
It is not really hard to do,and doesn't cost a lot (relatively),...not to mention that we have already the required skills for that task and for much more....and with such a big number of units,it can be of a very good asset.
As for the ZSU-23-4 "Shilka",whether there still are some in service or not,we need more, much more, and rather an improved version like this Polish ZSU-23-4 "Biała" The ZSU-23-4 "Biała" (pl. White, also the name of more than one small Polish river) is a Polish modification of the ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. The ZSU-23-4 "Biała" includes a new digital optical targeting system and 4 Grom surface-to-air missile launcher. The AZP-23 autocannons are equipped with modern ammunition and have an increased effective anti-aircraft range to about 3,5 km, 0.5-1 km more than the old ZSU-23-4. The Grom missiles' maximum range is about 5,5 km. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

Imho, the Lebanese Army's biggest asset is the infantry. Our terrain topography, envisioned threats of invasions and the nature of our political system, all require to imporeve the infantry, the infantry and the infantry. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

And this is the main reason why we have a very large number of M113 Armored Personnel Carriers. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Abou Sandal For This Useful Post: | | | | | Tags | air, airplane, arm, army, cesna, drawing, faith, force, general, iran, kahwaji, lebanese, lebanon, line, mirage, problem, qatar, sand, toys | |
