Joumblat has been working for few months now, on widening the gap between him and the so-called "Christian loyalists". He just wants a divorce as soon as possible. | | | | | Registered Member

All Lebanese should be rejoicing if Lebanon's Muslim leaders unite. We Lebanese on a personal level, whether Christian or Muslim, are without this leadership united, actually they are the ones who seperate us permanently with their useless wars and schizophrenic behavior. Why should Christians worry about such a unity? Wasn't it everyone's aim to unite all Lebanese? First step is such a unity between Sunni, Shia and Druz.. We had enough secterian strifes and battles between Lebanese, time to unite all forces. My only problem remains having a resistance instead of an army in my country, defending my fellow Lebanese. We need a strong army defending Lebanon's borders, if that is the proposal behind the unity Jumblatt is calling for, then it is more than welcome. It is not acceptable that only Shia have to carry the responsibility of defense, it is a collective matter when it comes to our nation's defence in case of aggression.
A Sunni-Shiite unity is only in the interest of Lebanon's Christians, previous failures were witnessed in Iraq, when Sunni-Shiite fought the Christians paid with their blood and with immigration of 600.000 Christians.
I find it great news and a great step by jumblatt, although who knows when he will change his mind and everyone knows that he is not credible, but let us hold some hopes. I hope the Druz community will pressure on him to continue in this peace path to develop in a unity between all Lebanese fractions in order to finally stop foreign intervention and build our country.
I am not insinuating that Jumblatt saw the light, but I think that he is under pressure to stop foreign intervention (especially the US/Saudi intervention) in order to better position our country.
Maybe 2009 will witness a change in Lebanon, I really think that every leader contributes in this change through a positive attitude.
It is not about egos here, it is about a nation's fate and its people.
On a side note: All this may be a mascerade in order to push on forming a government on the expenses of the opposition, but that is nothing new. I really hope it is a serious approach. | | | | | Registered Member

Unfortunately the reality is much more cynic. | | | | | Registered Member

Slithering Jumblat isn't the only culprit. Where are Hizbullah and Amal from GMA'S request for proportionate representation in parliament?
Again, his demands will be ignored as was his presidential candidacy and every other clause noted in their MOU with the FPM.
Lets face it. We're on our own and its upto us to reunite and protect our existence and common rights. No one is protecting the Assyrians in Iraq, No one is protecting the coptics in egypt and the Sudan, no one cares that 90 percent of Bethlehem's natural inhabitants have been pressured to leave their home to make room for displaced Sunnites in the west bank. No one cares that a majority of the churches of Antioch are still makeshift mosques.
Sami Gemayel and Franjieh are on the right track. All we need is for everyone else to pull their head in and see what is stewing. | | | | | Registered Member

FM and Jumblat gave the LF the chance of being constituted of 8/9 MPS(excluding the 3 fake MPS of Zahleh).

That's my only answer to you. | Really !
Do you mean Jezzine or Baabda?
Why are we even debating the elections?
As it is clear now the election results mean nothing, and the government will be formed by the quadripartite alliance. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter
