Back to Lebanon and HA. I’m not here to tell you who your friends are. If you chose to sell Lebanon to the Palestinians, HA is not your friend. However, if you know who your real friends are, (at least those who are not your enemies) you’ll make it a lot easier on yourself by changing your attitude towards them and finding ways to coexist and be very happy about it

All very nice, just the image of snake, even if friendly and useful, leaves a bit prejudice in us, right? Not to mention a bit of fear, as you said too, snakes were demonized all through our civilization. I find it very unfair! Still the image of snake has to go.
Its time to look into your fellows face, straight in the eye, and start seeing and listening. Quote:

All I’ve known since I was kid snakes are venomous and will kill you if I don’t kill them first. I even remember an old picture in my church; it showed Virgin Mary stepping on snakes, a symbol of defeating evil. Shortly after, I became educated about the snakes issue and realized that the snake I killed is called California kingsnake! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Kingsnake http://www.desertusa.com/magfeb98/feb_pap/du_kingsnake.html California Kingsnake is no venomous. It eats rodents and venomous rattlesnakes. Some have it as a pet. Wherever you see it, you know you won’t find rats, mice or rattlesnakes…. I realized, because of my ignorance, I killed an innocent friend! Back to Lebanon and HA. I’m not here to tell you who your friends are. As usual, enriching insight ya buzeid :). Quote: If there is a will there is a way. It’s your choice. | Doesn't this conclude our sad lebanese story? When 'wills' stopped growing on trees after Eve kicked the butt of Adam out of paradise, they're nowhere to be found anymore. In Lebanon, the only free will you get and which counts on a national scale, is congenital, transmitted to you through centuries of blood washed memories and tales of fears and mistrust against the 'others'.. Willing is ultimately an act of freedom. Do you call free those who are nearly flattened by now under the heavy burden of the past and the painful experiences of an unfortunate present? | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to taifoon For This Useful Post: | | | Orange Room Supporter

Salome and Taifoon, Thank you so much for allowing me to make such impression on you both but I must confess I’m more observant than creative but maybe too sensible. My story is true as I said. It’s not a fable. I didn’t make it up. I killed the poor snake last week and when I described it to my co worker the following day, he told me I might have killed someone’s pet because, besides rattlesnakes, very few snakes are poisonous and from what I described to him (as you can tell from the picture, it’s easy to describe) he said it must be a Kingsnake. So I did a little research, and sure enough…. That’s what gave me the idea to write about our ignorance and misjudgments as human beings. I still feel terrible every time I go out in my back yard. | | | | | Registered Member

A level of trust must exist, as well as reasonable and careful implementation of activities. Those two decisions before Doha were cripling and left HA with little choice. The reasonable among the viewers will have to not take HA's action at face value. | But this is what March 14 does not understand. It really is baffling when you consider their actions and try to figure out what is going on in thier minds and what their true motives are. They are damaging their own interests beyond belief. The only way to illustrate it is to liken their behavior to the wretch that revels in the perversity of his wretchedness. It is not logical, but it seems to be his nature.
If anyone was actually serious about wanting to settle the issue of HA's arms or any other issue pertaining to HA, they would be the first to try and build confidence and trust between them and HA, and work on them on a basis of common good, the national interest, and fairness. HA are rational people who execute thier policies and decisions on the basis of calculated and rationalized measures in light of their objectives and interests; believe me they are neither sophistic nor warm-blooded, and I think that thier ability to achieve thier goals is an indicator of this reality. Any forward minded individual who understands this cannot help but look upon the behavior and mentality of March 14 with anything but amusement and comical awe. Instead of building trust and confidence, they have crossed all red lines and severed any of the bonds that may have once existed. Couple this reality with the reality of thier client-status to foreign interests and thier intrinsic political impotence in terms of execution, and you are left with a circus show.
BTW, my post is not meant to be slanderous or demeaning to March 14. I am 100% serious about this. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Learned For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

the demise of the lebanese left wing resistance is one of the scars lebanon bears from syrian occupation, and ha as a phenomenon seems to me to be something abnormal.
after all the leftist parties, despite their collaboration with the plo, were the only truely secular parties before fpm. maybe they brought it upon themselves. still, in my view, it seems that lebanon can not be reinvented before the left wing reinvents itself. and before it is allowed to reinvent itself. | | | | | Registered Member

Many liked it! Forgive me for expressing myself freely. I have a will and here is my way: I learned to look for similarities rather than differences among “others.” I learned the hard way, every time I take someone’s side; I’m adding fuel to the fire regardless of who’s right and who’s wrong. It really is about what’s right and what’s wrong; what’s right is to STOP the FIRE! If I was to defend ones side, I would be defending the opposite side hoping for others from the opposite side to do the same for me. That’s the best way to reach across and experience the beauty in diversities. Without those diversities, life becomes a boring blank piece of paper from an empty notebook. Lebanon’s problems have been dragging for so long because we allowed foreign interferences taking parties sides and posing as friends. Notice, just within 24 hours of Condoleezza Rice’s surprise visit to Lebanon, violence erupted again. She must have recharged someone’s micro battery. I’m not even looking for tiny details anymore, jut the big picture. | | | | | Registered Member

i just take the most obvious example: the leadership of ha is dedicated to a certain political ideology. his supporters, however, are politically pretty diverse. ha did not impose khomeinis ideology on the areas it essentially governed after 2000. it seems the leadership is refraining from acting on their (self declared) political ideology. instead, it keeps the door open for those who do not subscribe to its political ideology.
ha may be the only political-ideological party in the world whose overwhelming support (and grip on power in his areas) is achieved by not acting upon its own ideology. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to punkgirlie16 For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member
