It's called war games, assessing different strategic options and scenarios, etc.
I know that it is very uncomfortable for most FPMers to raise the subject of Syria and to what extent we are serving her interests these days, but sticking our heads in the sand is just not smart politics. | | | | | Registered Member

FPMers should know better than anyone else what price Lebanon has historically paid as a result of the policies of its brotherly neighbor.
The whole "we fought Syria until Syria left Lebanon and so now there is no need to fight" excuse doesn't fly with me. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have good diplomatic relations with Syria. I'm saying that we should lend each other sugar but keep our doors locked at night.
In other words, I think that while Syria's leaders probably think the MOU is awfully sweet and well-intentioned, they have other plans. We should be wary. | | | | | Registered Member

Ma khtalafna, i still hold so much grudge against Syria, and still consider it not-trustworthy. One can never forget the 30 years of atrocities committed during its occupation, and the atrocities it is still committing today towards the Lebanese freedom fighters still disappeared/missing/jailed in Syria (in addition to other domains where Syria undermines Lebanon's sovereignity and respect as a neighbouring country).
But still, what you have just said does not justify your following quote: ''I know that it is very uncomfortable for most FPMers to raise the subject of Syria and to what extent we are serving her interests these days, but sticking our heads in the sand is just not smart politics.''
La ''law of unintended consequences''w la ballout...Any country that thinks it can occupy Lebanon will be faced by FPM'ers, be it the Vatican or Syria.
In anycase, we are diverting from the topic of the thread (although it is kinda broad i gotta admit hehe)
