FBI arrests Jordanian over skyscraper bomb plot

A Jordanian national has been arrested by the FBI for attempting to bomb a skyscraper in downtown Dallas, the US Department of Justice said.

"Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, 19, has been arrested and charged in a federal criminal complaint with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction," the department said in a statement.

"Smadi, who was under continuous surveillance by the FBI, was arrested today [Thursday] near Fountain Place, a 60-storey glass office tower ... in downtown Dallas, after he placed an inert-inactive car bomb at the location."

The FBI said Smadi's arrest was not related to the ongoing terror investigation in New York and Colorado that led to the indictment of a Denver airport shuttle bus driver.

Well , I don't think Al Qaeda exists "tanzeemiyan" in Lebanon , but for sure it has some sympathizers , the secterian nature of the political system in Lebanon doesn't help at all. And the on-going attacks on the islamists or "moultazimin" , whom have peaceful nature and calls , by big parts of the Lebanese people ( you know who ;o ) just because they're islamists and accuse them all of terrorism will only lead them to the extremism.
Also the stupidity of HA in May '08 , and the ignorance of FPM cheering for them could have brought hell to Lebanon if the situation exploded : such occasions are the best recruitment materials for terrorist groups like Al Qaeda , yet we see some ignorants keep clapping for such actions and then they cry when they hear news reports about Al Qaeda expanding in Lebanon... instability and conflicts help terrorists ... not that hard to understand and predict.
