I highly doubt Sweden or germany or UK or Danemark or Ireland or etc.. are "curtailing the natural rights of their diaspora" with the conditions they have set as per expats' voting rights.
Each of these countries, to name a few, has set conditions when it comes to expats' right to vote. For instance the citizen should not have been living outside the country for more than 10years, other conditions are even more restrictives.
Each country has its constitution and conditions and some of these countries are leaders in terms of human rights.
As long as these conditions are realistic and not deceptive, they ought to be viewed as means to improve the electoral law.

Even though I voted that Diaspora Lebanese should be allowed to vote, as it is their ultimate right, but I believe putting conditions like the number of years living outside of Lebanon is important as first of all it will encourage people to go back to Lebanon from time to time, and also it will make sure that the person voting at least has a slight idea about the Lebanese politics...

But before we put conditions we should have a whole new system determining people's status... Does the Lebanese system know my status now?? Don't think so...

There should be something called freezing the residency of a person, by not paying taxes etc etc... Or keeping it and pay taxes on the amount you're making in any country of this world...

Freezing residency means you won't have the right to vote...

There are a lot of systems used in a lot of developed countries like France, Canada, Germany etc etc, that we can analyze and use for the Lebanese one...
This is the kind of reform that we need in Lebanon...

Thank you!!
