Am I mistaken or can this patient also take A- B- and O- ? I think AB blood-type people can receive any type of blood as long as it is the same sign (+ or -)

Very true, but the people were told by hospital staff that it would preferred to have the similar blood type in this case and as you all know AB- is a rare type.

OMG This person is really unlucky! I just checked, it turns out less than 0.5% of people are of AB- blood type!

Unfortunately 0.5% is correct.
Undergoing surgery on Friday 24 April, so if anyones knows anyone that has this blood type, please contact the # or go to Hotel Dieu tomorrow and give the patient's name.
