As for the people finding excuses: He's the dean of this or that university, he's a professor, he's I dunno what.
The guy is still a priest.

Do you think that this guy will support a law to legalize CIVIL MARRIAGE ?

There are many other examples that go against his religious beliefs and FPM's policies.
Guys, please, we're really not LFers, we can think, stop defending this decision.
Jade, not all priests and sheikhs are useless excuses of human beings. Some of them, albeit very few of them, actually have an intellect and political/cultural understanding that rivals and beats that of "first class" zu3ama. Because he is genuinely involved with Lebanese social affairs, why should we force ourselves (as citizens) to waste his talents on prayers and fruitless religious practice?

There's a difference between men of the cloth, such as that, and those who argue "because God said so." You say there is a brain drain in Lebanon, then we should make use of every possible citizen, even if he chose to be a priest.

Ba3den, shou khas LF? These guys kill priests and bomb churches!

Father Mbarak, Is he the priest who used to make very agressive speeches against Syria during the liberation war from Baabdaa palace?

Honestly I don't remember the name, I don't remember what he looks like, but I remember that famous priest when we used to go there.

Can someone confirm this?

ok enough distortion and bullcrap...who said anything about men of god staying out of politics? actually, if i remember correctly,. it was both GMA and SF who said: Men Of God have to stay out of the political scene, HOWEVER, if they ever meddle with political issues, they should suffer the consequences...any person with good arabic and a modicum of common sense is supposed to understand that...but io guess common sense is not so common after all...
anyway, as FPM, i dunt think we were ever distant from men of religion; in actuality, many of them are staunch FPM supporters and we are proud of it!! does Father Simon Assaf ring a bell? chou? does he?
anyway, i'm not from chouf so i can't speak for the natives, but as and FPMer, it is an honor to have father mubarak represent me...after all, isn't he the one behind the great line:

اذا كان الاب مبارك يملك تاييد شعبي على الأرض فمشاركته ضمن لائحة المعارضة ضرورية ومطلوبة نظراً لمواقفه الوطنية
مع العلم ان امكانية خرق لائحة جنبلاط صعب وهذا ما اشار اليه امس الوزير وئام وهاب بطريقة غير مباشرة بعد لقائه الجنرال عون عن ان التسوية بين جنبلاط وارسلان كان يمكن ان تكون افضل

Hey, let the Patriarch or Bechara el Rai get elected MPs and then I'm more than happy for them to meddle in politics... They would have earned it...Remember MP Father Sem3an Douyehi?

Question regarding Father Mbarak's candidacy:
-Since he's a priest, will he need an authorization from Bkerkeh or from his Moutran to run?

I know for sure that if elected he won't be allowed to practice as a priest (he still be a priest but can't hold services).
