independence starts from an internal mental state that applies itself externally
the need to need someone else 'for guidance' from outside our borders must be void
and the spirits must cherish the soil in times of peace and defend it in times of war
in short independence begets maturity
i hope the lebanese, all of them, get there some day
we need our independence, we the older/current generation of ****-ups might not deserve it ya, but our children deserve it at least that's for sure
so for all it's worth mabrouk
and i hope our independence day celebration becomes more and more real from year to year | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Red Phoenix For This Useful Post: | | | Orange Room Supporter

RP's comment sheds a nice view on how you could look at independence. | | | | | Registered Member

secondly, things aren't black or white and there are shades of grey that people should appreciate.
so, we're grateful for what he have, we hold our flag high and we keep on respecting the concept of our state while remembering important dates and honoring national symbols. | | | | | Registered Member

Independance?
Yes, we should stick to the few things that gather us and make us proud, or even more the things that collectively make us sad if those exist, and the day we feel collectively happy or collectively sad about an incident, is the day where we can say we became independant, or we became a nation.. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to lebanese007 For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

I am proud of my country and our army not some of its people. I want the whole 10452 km not a part of it. independence is incomplete until shebaa is returned. all parties take orders from countries and your talking about independence? | | | | | Registered Member

So excuse my French but if the people feels that it's independent then the nation IS independent.
I feel proud to be commemorating that date and all the people who died to hold that flag up high. And if you truly believe that because some oppressive neighbor captured part of our land and because another oppressive neighbor captured some of our sons we should forget about all what happened before then hear me when I say that you are swimming in ingratitude.
I'm usually not the poetic or nationalist geezer but still this event is something to be proud of regardless of the punctual behavior of some politicians. So please grant us your silence and stop nagging in respect to that date if you agree otherwise remember that the guys who made our independence possible didn't know sh*t about Syria or Israel at that time. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Booyakasha For This Useful Post: | | | Orange Room Supporter
