Default 2009 Parliamentary elections - donations & fundraising - 15th June 2008

The 2009 parliamentary elections are less than 1 year away.

As we all know FPM doesnt enjoy a credit line from KSA or Iran to fund their electoral campaigns.

FPM's electoral campaign relies mainly on donations from FPMers, and FPM supporters around the world.

Donations are critical to be able to conduct a successful electoral campaign. The logistics of such a campaign requires a lot of money.

A fund raising campaign should be launched as early as possible, and not relying on the last 1-2 months to raise enough money for the elctoral campaign.

In the Metn by-elections, FPM was faced with a not so innocent decision by the US administration that lead to FPM supporters in the US thinking twice before donating money to that electoral campaign.

you dont want to endure something similar come election time in 2009.

The paypal donation button that used to be on tayyar.org should be back on again ASAP, so that people can start donating from now!

There should be an option as well to make a monthly donation.

For example, I might be able to donate 25$/50$ a month from now til election day, but i might not be able to donate 300$/600$ at once in May 2009! I consider myself to be paying an internet bill, or a cable bill every month, and donate for the tayyar campaign!

Some people might want to donate 10$/month, some might want to donate 1000$/month.

This way FPM can raise the biggest amount possible.

Metin by-election was a disaster when it comes to organization..
Very good initiative Diabolo, I guess that all FPMers and without exception are willing to donate in order to improve our work and representation on the ground.

Donations must be made by all the FPM supporters and sympathisers, regardless of the amount donated (each one as much as he can), especially the ones that will be outside Lebanon during the elections and will not be able to vote. This will be your only way to contribute into helping FPM win against the tyran and the petrodollar. Diabolo gave us another way of donating which can help many of us as well.

Since we are starting early with the preparations as well, I advise all the ones that live abroad, to start fixing their holidays next year in June if possible, so that they will be able to be present in Lebanon and help on the ground and surely cast their votes as well. We need every single one, each vote will be decisive in what GMA called "The Final Battle".

I don't think it's quite a good idea to donate through paypal on a monthly basis little amounts, coz I think that for each donation there's a commission.
But I am prettu sure that FPM officials took evtg into consideration and especially GMA, M sure they are not waiting us.

Well great initiative. One thing in 2005 FPM was not in the parliament and yet we weren't organized as committees and etc. IMO, in 2009 FPM won't need a fund raising campaign. As i said the committees are organized let them create some kind of account and collect some money on monthly basis from members of the committee. More the C & R can help, our MPs are payed a monthly salary, let them help.. chou 3al fade 3am nentekhib?

Am not against the donations, bas that's how i see things. ya3tikoun l 3afieh

I hope for those living abroad, we will have an official address where to donnate if needed the sooner the better....
And excuse my lack of information, but when exactly are the elections, because we also have tickets to buy (maybe a found could be used for those abroad not able to buy themselves tickets for the occasion...)

Each major city that is host to Lebanese expatriates should hold fund-raising dinners (and other events) by FPM.
