What do you mean by old technology; 3G scores for voice; Wimax may lead to increased broadband penetration...

In 2007, Lebanon had 930 mbps in international bandwidth. Some countries are having 1 gbps for end users.
Pity the nation

3G is competing with WiMax.
3G doing success in data AND voice. Voice is major profit of all wireless technology, and key to return investments. You just cannot return your investments with data services and expensive equipment, except using "government power" or some other exclusive position on market.

WiMax barely sustain to make profit on data, and voice... there is almost no handsets for WiMax. Almost - Russia have government project, and Samsung made one smartphone with WiMax connectivity, and you can call over WiMax. And technologically WiMax is not so cool as i explain before. OFDM which WiMax uses also sucks on moving vehicles, so no real mobility.

Actually MIMO OFDM WiMaX has proven to be efficient breaking the mobility barrier but still, results are not as good as they were expected... You still need a line of site. If you are moving in your car, speed will drop significantly. And dont forget, it's a power intensive technology. Not to mention the installation cost whatsoever..

The problem is, we're all pissed off about how retarded we became (technologically speaking). How many of us will start cursing each others if our party leaders are fighting and forget how stupid this is... I wish we as Lebanese can understand that, if we all focus on research and developing our country, we would have something in common to work on... but then the parties and religions will start to compete on this... hehehe I am losing hope in breaking that circle...
Anyway, away from anger and hopelessness... I thought (as far as i remember) OFDM was made to fix mobility issues, or was it COFDM? I am sure it dealt with echo signals. Because it is widely use in DBM and DAB (not in our retarded country of course, we're still analog fans) and those are usually used in cars, and it was tested in a train going 200km/h...

OFDM have problems with doppler shift. Because core of OFDM it is coexisting frequency subcarriers and each adjancent carrier is phase rotated with some offset(90 degree if i am not wrong, don't remember) to another one. FDMA rulz for true mobility, but it is spectrum inefficient :-(
