I've got Ogero DSL, 3 Gb, the connection's fine but most of time it's not enough and i end up exceeding the limit and paying extra at the end of the month...

I have no option but stick to those cable services, i have 2 accounts one with VISP and the other with a reseller of IDM. I use more than 500mb/day, i have a 190kbps and 256kbps accounts. I believe we would be doing wonders if we had a decent connection.
Internet is still seen as a privilege in Lebanon, pfff!

Ok..I have several questions...when testing my ping times on pingtest.net i get different ping times depending on which server im using..E.g If i use USA's servers i get lower ping and bu using middle eastern servers i get higher ping times :S

On my 512 kbps with Terranet i usually get ping times varying between 300 and 500 (sometime worse like friday night and saturday night and sometime better at morning during weekdays) And just today i've ordered to upgrade it to 1mbps ...my question is...is it worth it ? do u think i'll have lower ping times and higher speed ?

It will be installed next month..I'll keep you posted . Thanks for your help.

Upgrading and Terranet? sure not worth. Note that you will not get lower pings with higher bandwidth as it is something different. Latency has nothing to do with bandwidth.

Regarding the different results you are getting, that applies to me as well. I have tried different providers and all are the same. For me, UK gives me the lowest ping. If I traceroute, I can see that the first hope after the private network is London Level3 link which implies getting low pings in Europe.

Some ISPs route their traffic to USA ( BTNA) which allows you to get better pings in USA but not in Europe.
