Default weird connection behavior - 24th May 2009

hello , i was updating my antivirus database on mylaptop since i only pug it into internet cable once per month
anyway i slept , when i woke up i faced the weirdest connection problems ever :P
first i was able to establish the connection (i have visp) but wasn't able to connect to anything ....
firefox gave me
" the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading
the network link was interrupted while negociating a connection . please try again"

i found it weird , i tried to connect to msn , while troubleshooting tele3leh that my "default gateway is offline"
when i clicked on repair nothing changed , my default gateway is alway offline
anyway i plugged the cable in my desktop , everything was working great ....
when i tried to compare the internet settings between my desktop and laptop i noticed that "automatically detect settings was not checked in the laptop" wich is weird because i swear it was checked before
anyway when i checked it i was able to log in to msn ONLY , firefox and internet explorer problems remained the same
then again i plugged the cable in my desktop
now firefox cant connect too :s , it is giving me the usual problem

Quote:
Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at Google.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
while firefox is not working , MSN and internet explorer are working on my desktop , that's how i am posting this
pleaseeeeeee help :S

weird
now everything is working again
i googled for this interrupt problem of firefox , the suggested solution was to enable something related to ipv6 inabout:config
i enabled it and firefox worked on my laptop
but IE worked too , so i don't think that the problem was in ipv6
on my desktop everything worked again just fine without changing anything
