I had the same problem too, and i deleted the file.
I then replaced it using this:

try start, run and type sfc /scannow
you will need you XP cd for this.
This should find and replace any messed up Windows files.

I'm not sure if it would work, but try it, you would lose nothing.
But the XP cd should have the same service pack version, or else i don't think it would be good.
Yeah, delete it using kaspersky, and then use repair.

Hey,

Follow the instructions found here and trust me you will be satisfied. The administration of this forum is a person who has an MVP from Microsoft.

You will never regret it and they will be able to help you in whatever you might need.

PS: the S&D that you shall download, update and run will definitely fix the problem you are having right now.

Good luck

This sounds exactly like Ad-Aware when you can't enter proxy server settings and username and password. so you have to download the updates from the website to the right folder in spybot and when you load it it will tell you you have the latest definitions...
download definitions from herehttp://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

By the way, you can also have an online scan which is completely helpful and I am talking out of experience by going here

Click on scan my computer now.
