Well it is not GPS what that application is offering. It is nothing more than google updates, plus as for you in canada with your high data plan cost not gonna be efficient. A GPS would be completely undependable on data or internet.

I got mine from ebay as well, and third part applications are perfect.

I don't have a data plan because free WIFI is almost everywhere.

my favorite applications: isnakes, tetris, acceleroog, weDict( I have 5 dictonaries), 4balls, etc......

it is not GPS. iPhone adapted google maps to a triangulation method using the cell towers as a reference; the result is not accurate at all. it can give you a general area but fails to pinpoint a location. the accuracy of course depends on signal quality, distance to towers, and the number of towers around.

Though all indicators over the past few weeks have pointed to a launch at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, Gizmodo now claims to have received confirmation from inside sources that the 3G version of the iPhone will indeed launch on June 9.

No additional specs besides 3G data speeds have been revealed, though Gizmodo seems to have the scoop on the device’s availability. According to them, the second-gen iPhone will be available worldwide right after launch – not at year's end as previously thought – with June 18 as the specific launch day for Spain and similar launch schedules for other European countries with iPhone availability.

Interestingly, Gizmodo also ‘confirms’ more traditional sales policies to go into effect in select countries, such as subsidized pricing for signing up to long-term contracts, and upgrade discounts for current customers.

In canada the official release for the Iphone is going to be in september. Rogers will be the only wireless network providing it in canada.

Actually you can buy it in the Apple store, there is a limit of two Iphones per person, they actually check and document your ID.

the second generation is going to be released in canada on july 11. ( iphone is also going to be released in italy, spain, australia, japan).

the unexpected thing is the 8 Gb is going to be sold for $199 half the price of the old one.
as for canada and as I understood is going to be released by fido & rogers ( which are practically the same company).

I just ordered myself a HTC Diamond from ebay, a much better unit that runs on Windows mobile 6.1, an iPhone competeor for sure, and probably much better in many ways because it will have many more programs that can run on it. It is a little more expensive than the iPhone, but I like:
